What We Left Behind - Documentary Update Confirms *Some* HD Remastering

I keep getting an unknown playback error, and it's really slow. I tried on my ipad and pc, and get it with both. I've already entered 4 different verification codes. I think I'm going to try this again tomorrow.

Probably a good thing that I'm not planning to watch it for another day or two. Work out the bugs and heavy traffic!

Same here. That, and it's insane the amount of sports that are on at the moment. I probably won't watch this until Saturday Night.

Yeah, Rick Berman's tell-all memoir is high on my Trek wish-list. Even something like the Solow/Justman book would be a great read, but I sense Rick is just too discreet and keen to safeguard Gene's legacy.

It's a shame because he's let the fans and others knock him for years without ever really getting his side of the story across.
I'd love for Berman to really 'tell all'. I especially want him to finally admit that he was not "hand picked" by Roddenberry to take over the franchise. I'd also love his perspective on the chaotic writing staff situation of the first few years.

Well, Gene pissed off Bob Justman and sidelined him. Rick was the studio guy and the one Gene couldn't really get rid of. He was lucky Berman turned out to be the ideal steward for Star Trek.
In all fairness, I think Gene was listening a lot to his lawyer (Maizlish) at the time, and I am willing to bet that he contributed a lot to Gene's relationship with his longtime associates. Yvonne Fern's book about Gene sheds some light into the time just before Gene's passing.

This "business plan" is a fallacy.

Physical media is no longer a feasible market for classic titles; there's simply not a large enough consumer base for it like there is for recent releases. This is why boutique labels like Criterion, Kino Lorber, Olive, etc have prices so much higher than those from the main studios.
Even the Oppo company which produced blu ray players which were loved and adored by physical media enthusiasts went out of business. Physical media is not the future. However, I consistently see TNG as one of the top favorites on Netflix.

The streaming security eventually worked. I feel like O'Brien vs. the Station in season 1. Once the streaming started it worked fine for me.

I enjoyed the documentary but it seemed like it ended too soon. [/DS9 greed]

Plus - they forgot to put my name as a backer and it was part of my perk. Boo.

Just watched it but that was incredible.

The remastered footage looked great, even on a tablet, Season 8 was a great 'episode' and I'd loved to have seen more, the interviews were frank and insightful.

DS9 isn't as universally loved as it's two predecessors, and that's actually kind of acknowledged, so this is a lovely thing to behold.

Just finished it and I agree it was great. I easily could have watched another hour of it. I'm hoping the Blu-ray has an option to just view all the remastered footage. That would really be something.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. I think fitting in 7 years and so many characters into a 2 hour documentary is a really tough task, but they pulled it off. I am looking forward to the DVD .. and hopefully many extended interviews.

I'm watching it now and got to the Sacrifice of Angels sequence. That looks gorgeous. You know for all the talk about DS9 being a dark show, it was the most vibrant colorful show in the franchise and the battle sequence really does highlight that.
