What We Left Behind - Documentary Update Confirms *Some* HD Remastering

I just got an email yesterday, that there's a USPS tracking number. So, I guess they've already shipped. They may just come in by the end of the year. I'm in Boston, and it's presumably shipping from LA, possibly the post office closest to Paramount on Melrose?

There was a new update today. The documentary is not going to be released this year, because they want to get the HD Remastering correct and complete.

Also, Mods would it be a good idea to sticky this thread as we get news and updates?

I haven't received that update yet.

It's a shame they aren't releasing it for a while. It's disappointing, but they need time to do their thing and make it look amazing. :techman:

Needless to say, I was a tad premature in my assumption that the emails confirming my shipping address and providing a USPS tracking number were for the blu ray itself. It wouldn't be quite so embarrassing, except that just yesterday, I put out feelers for interest in a viewing party by contacting some local friends and asking what their availability would be between now and February. I'll probably have to push that back a couple of months.

Ira provides an explanation for the delay and a small taste of one clip in HD:

It was a nice explaination except the more I thought about it the more I didn't like the use of 1930s tape wheel that he used. Was 1990s quality really that poor? I mean by today's standards I guess, but I still watch my DS9 DVDs and can see what is going on just fine. I was hoping we could get one of those Trekcore type HD comparisons rather then pissing on the quality of 1999.

Yup. I'm bummed out we aren't going to get it this year, but if it means getting the best possible version of the documentary, then I'm all for the delay.

Good to know they are releasing the DS9 documentary. I'm sure it'll be worth the wait. Hopefully, as they upgrade the clips in the documentary to HD, someone will get the inclination to do the complete series to HD. Unlikely, but dare to dream.

Hmmm. . . it's a pity that I have such mixed views on that film. I loved the first half that depicted the end of the Dominion War. But the second half was a bore to me.

Good idea. And my apologies for not having pinned something sooner. The holiday season has gotten underway in the Savage Dragon household and I haven't been online as much lately. If you guys think there are other threads we should pin or merge into this one I am open to suggestions. :)

No problem. It's a busy time of year. ;)
