What was the first episode of any Star Trek show that you ever saw?

Re: What was the first episode of any Star Trek show that you ever saw

Before my dad left when I was five, he used to watch it and I remember catching glimpses of it. Part of episodes like Doomsday Machine and Corbomite maneuver. But probably my earliest memory of watching a full episode was late at night in the early 80's. I had my usual bout of strep throat and very high fever and could not sleep. So I was downstairs laying on the sofa and The Tholian Web was on. Being sick with a high fever at 10 to 12 years old very late at night (around midnight or so) gives you a very distored and eerie take on that episode. That episode has always had a strange feel to it for me and I think it was because of that night.

I began to watch Star Trek in the fall of 1973 when one of our local stations began running it weekday afternoons after school. I had a paper route, so I always missed the first twenty minutes or so. One day I was able to finish my route early and so the first complete Star Trek episode I was able to watch was Turnabout Intruder. Kind of ironic that that was also the last original TOS episode.

TOS's Devil in the Dark, saw it some time in 1985 on TV. My father was watching it and wouldn't let me watch Ghostbusters on VHS until it was over. That made me mad. :klingon:

Unfortunately, Aquiel. It was on the tv in the hospital ER waiting room. It was marginally less painful than the inner ear infection I was there for. :p

The first episode I watched by choice was, I believe, Starship Mine. My brother was trying to get me into Trek for a while (I was only 8 at the time).

Where No Man Has Gone Before - sometime in the 1970s. I remember as everyone's fear of Gary Mitchell's telekinetic "God" powers made quite an impression on my little sister and I. To this day we still remember the "I'm thirsty" scene...

Hmmm... maybe it's for reasons of nostalgia that this is my favourite Trek episode.

I'm with the TNG bunch. I don't remember the exact episode, but it had to be something from the early seasons of TNG, perhaps even Season 1. Looking back at the whole thing now, I actually wish I could remember the very first time I caught a glimpse of Star Trek. It would be a nice piece of personal history.:p Well, maybe if I probe my memory banks properly, I'll be able to come up with something.

First Star Trek image I recall was from about age 3, the Balok puppet in Black and White. It terrified me enough to stick with me since then. To think, I was usually scared of the monsters on Pertwee's Doctor Who. No escape from the scary aliens!

I remember seeing that TNG episode where the crew devolves...I'm sorry to say I don't recall the name.

'Nothing Human', 5th season of VOY, somewhere in 2001, I think (yeah, I'm a youngster :D). A cool alien and a moral dilemma. I was hooked! I remember it clearly as day.

I started with TNG, and I honestly can't remember what the first episode I saw was. I know it was around the time ST VI came out (which I did see in theaters) and then shortly after that I saw my first TOS episode, "Space Seed."

The first episode--no idea, but most likely something from season 1 of TNG. It was the first ST show in TV in Poland.

The very first ST film I had watched was ST IV :) My Dad took me to the cinema :D

Which episode had the ewoks? I'm pretty sure it was that one, when I was 3-4.

We're part of First Fandom -- the group who became Trek fans during the show's original run on NBC, long before Trek became a franchise and a cultural phenomenon. A geek elite, you might say.

I'm old enough to be part of First Fandom, but we lived in one half of a house and my grandparents had the other half. My grandmother owned the b/w TV and we only got to select shows if there wasn't something on that she wanted to watch. ("Disneyland", "Batman", "Captain Nice", "Please Don't Eat the Daisies", "Family Affair", among others, but not "Star Trek".)

The kids at school collected "Star Trek" gum cards (from Scanlens, in Australia, not Topps) and we didn't get colour TV until 1975. I have memories of watching first-run TAS, especially "Yesteryear" and "Albatross", on Saturday morning cartoons, in glorious b/w. Funny that I recall "Albatross" so vividly, because the characters are supposed to be turning various colours in that one.

When colour TV came along, the network presented about ten selected TOS episodes "in full colour for the first time". "Miri", "Arena" and "Devil in the Dark" are particularly vivid. Dr McCoy's eyes were particularly memorable. Incredibly blue! TAS also started to feature on breakfast TV and we eagerly awaited "Albatross" to see the changing colours!

I think it's Genesis, which was directed by the fabulous Gates McFadden.

I remember seeing that TNG episode where the crew devolves...I'm sorry to say I don't recall the name.

TAS "Beyond The Farthest Star"

You and Simon Pegg both. He discusses the scary Balok puppet in his autobiography, "Nerd Do Well".

I've no idea other than it was an episode of TOS. I started watching it when I was very young nearly 40 years ago.
