What TOS cliches do you want to see?

I was inspired by a similar post in the TOS forum regarding everyone's favorite TOS cliches. I'm just wondering which cliches we want or hope to see in the new film...

Kirk ripping his shirt? Spock/Bones sparring? Gratuitous redshirt fatalities? That wicked awesome fight music?

Personally, I'm waiting to see Spock nerve-pinch a guy for the first time and see Kirk's reaction to it. :wtf: Thoughts? Suggestions?

some dead red shirts, mcCoy saying :He's dead Jim" or "I'm a doctor not a ___fill in the blank". kirk's flying leap of doom. Sexy alien chick.

No one besides Shatner can pull off Kirk's flying leap of doom!
However, I wouldn't like Shatner himself to try it again, these days ...

As for cliches, I'd like Spock going slightly nuts at some point. Like when he relives the pain of some Horta or is infected by alien pancake.

I'd also like to see mcCoy arch his eyebrow and get into a heated argument with Spock. Those are fun.

I will be sorely disappointed if we don't get at least one gratuitous redshirt death. I'm hoping we'll get at least one instance of Spock raising an eyebrow and saying "Fascinating" too.

It depends on the setting. If we're looking at a newly captain-ated Kirk on an alien adventure then there should definitely be a flying kick/tackle, a torn shirt, "He's dead Jim.", some scantily clad alien women, a red alert, "I cannae do-eet Captain!" and a miracle in the engine room.

Dead Red Shirts of course. I also like the suggestion above that they get the fight music in there. That would be awesome.

It would be nice to hear some stupid jokes at the end of the movie, just like in TOS!

Yes! And this little piece of silly music that would lead from the studip jokes into the end credits!

Among those not mentioned so far:
-- Orange alien skies.
-- A fight scene with an embarrassingly obvious use of stunt men.
-- A transporter malfunction at a crucial time.

Another Vote For Dead Redshirts !
Black go-go boots.
Mini-mini-skirts, on males too, just 'cause.
"He / She / It's Dead, Jim !"
The Infamouse Vulcan Neck Pinch with appro music too.
Kirk banging the alien babe of the film 'natch.
"I'm a doctor not an actor !"
"I canna give ya' any morrre powerrr capin'."
"Hailing Starfleet Command."
"Oh My !"
"It'z a Wussian Inwention Yanno."
"So your the famous James T. Kirk, I've heard a lot about you."
"You're going to have to teach me that someday."
Camera tilts everyone falls out of thier chairs.
Control panel explodes in a shower of sparks.
Transporter doesn't work untill the verry last second.
"Yourrrr stuck down therrrre 'till I cun fix it capin'."

And of course....

"Kirk To Enterprise."

For that matter, throw in an image of Balok at the end of the end credits. You know, just for kicks.

Hey, Futurama did it.

Too bad Ron Howard isn't directing. He puts his brother Clint in every movie he does, so that would mean...

...more creepy little Balok! (the non-puppet one)

PS. when I was seven years old, Clint Howard's Balok gave me more nightmares than the puppet Balok (then again, I thought the Munchkins on Wizard of Oz were scary, too.)

Another vote here for the fight music. It'll never happen, but it'd rule if it did...

Yeah my ulterior motive in starting that thread in the TOS forum was to get nominations for a poll. :D But here is a good place, too.

Oh cmon! No "Live Long and Prosper"? No Vulcan nerve pinch? No Kirk ripping his shirt? What's the point then? :( Let's make it all gloomy and serious and depressing and call it Battlestar Galactica! :p

The TMP theme music. (*NOT* the theme from TOS - I don't see that working as a theatrical motion picture theme, it's just not, well, theatrical enough. It simply doesn't sound like a movie.) But the TMP theme is perfect.
