My sister is turning 16 in a couple months, obviously what she wants is a car but I can't provide that, she's on her own there, heh. What else do you get a 16 year old girl for her birthday? I'm drawing a blank, I kinda gave her what she wanted for Christmas, so now I'm out of ideas.

New phone...iPod...shopping mall gift card...

I dunno. I've never been a 16-year old girl.

hehe, the shopping mall gift card is not a bad idea actually

She's got an iPhone, but it isn't the newer 3GS, anyway I couldn't afford to giver her that, limited budget and all

- Doesn't she like anything in particular, like DVDs or books? Maybe she is into a series ...

- You could try to buy her a nice necklace. Ask one of the sales people for assistance if you are not sure what might be right.

- The shopping mall gift card does sound good.

What's your budget?

And what kinda stuff is she into? Sporty kind? Geeky type? Pop music lover? Sci-fi fan? Alternative sort? Shading goth? Too much her own person to be easily classifiable? :)

Hmm, what I wanted at that age was...my own computer, books, DVDS, CDs, cool stuff for my room, and lots of computer and video games.

If she listens to music a lot then maybe an iTunes gift card.

We don't know anything about your sister. It might help to know what she wanted for christmas.

When I was 16 I just wanted money of the cash variety.

This is just me, and most people hate this idea, but I like to get people something "new" to them in an area I know to be of interest.

For example, a 16-year old who likes acoustic music, but has never heard Bob Dylan, I might get him/her a Dylan CD.

Maybe she likes to watch astronomy shows on Discovery, so maybe pick up something by...hmmm...who could I choose...I dunno... Carl Sagan?

Anyway, I don't know what her fields of interest are, but that's how I try to approch gifts.

^ So basically, buy them something they'll like that they don't already have.

Invaluable advice.

More like something they "may" like, but might not. To do this, you have to be okay with failure (Lord knows I am).

A new experience in an area of interest. Lots of teens like acoustic guitars, but few know of Bob Dylan. Most won't like Bob Dylan, but a few will fall in love.
