What the heck is the point of having two timelines?

oh hell no.

TOS Metamorphosis--
Kirk: You say this Companion found you and rejuvenated you? What were you doing in space at the age of eighty seven?
Cochrane: I was tired, Captain. I was going to die, and I wanted to die in space. That's all.
Spock: True, his body was never found.

Enterprise Broken Bow--
Forrest (in 2151): Rather than quoting Doctor Cochrane, I think we should listen to his own words from the dedication ceremony for the Warp Five Complex thirty two years ago (2119).

The dialogue and the math all point to Zefram Cochrane being born in 2032, meaning he was 31 in the 2063 scenes of First Contact.

No. Augments are shown to be able to resist multiple phaser blasts on stun, while Cochrane is taken down by one stun blast in FC.

Except "Augment" means anyone genetically engineered with augmented abilities or attributes, and the very nature of genetic engineering means that different individuals could have very different augmentations from one another. For instance, Dal in Prodigy is called an Augment because he was genetically engineered, but he (normally) has no greater strength, intelligence, etc. than a typical humanoid.

I was just referring to the actor's age, not the canonical data. :D

Can't wait for Shatner to show up in Strange New Worlds as Kirk (sorry Paul Wesley) after his agent pushed for his appearance by citing James Cromwell's precedent that ability should take precdence over a Trek character's canonical age.

As long as you don’t wager any money…

Well, we already know that, since Wesley is over 40 but playing a Kirk in his upper 20s.

I'm well aware of all that. However... take Data once responding to a question with 'chronological age?'

Allowing the possibility of time dilation being factored in, for one example.

What with Cochrane also living in an era where cryo freezing was also likely still feasible or used in many contexts, it is - POSSIBLE - for him to be 87 at the time he left known space for the last time. But only biologically.

Allowing for a possibly earlier chronological birth date (for example - 2013, as the First Contact novelization once implied)
So just putting that out there.

My ideal concept for two separate universes would have them slowly diverging with new ideas or new concepts that was never done in Prime but made sense for where Kelvin was, whether this was films, tv series, novels, comics. This would be Ultimate Star Trek to Prime's 616 Star Trek. So I'd do stuff like push the Spock/Uhura relationship forward and give them a son. How does Spock operate as a father? I liked the idea of Kirk getting a daughter from one of his one night stands back in the day. I'd have the Federation and Romulans get closer together and have them as the alliance, with the Klingons staying on as the villains. I'd give Sulu his own ship, either as a short term field promotion or just have that as the new status quo. Have him and his husband and daughter on there, or on the Enterprise.

Yup. Well I bought him as a 31 year old. With all the stress of war, building the first warp engine and his penchant for drinking and dancing to bad music aged him really badly. Lol

Don't worry, I'm sure some enterprising (pun intended) Trekkie will AI deage Cromwell in FC to get him to look 31. Or paste Glenn Corbett on instead. Or CGI mashup their faces together.

Lol, I remember trying with Faceapp to deage James Cromwell. I did another pic with Glenn Corbett having James Cromwell's Cochrane's hat.

It only exists so JJ Abrahams could have his different look and take on the franchise.
At least the original Trek universe survived JJ. When JJ went over to that other Star franchise, the original Star Wars universe as fans knew it did not survive (even the Ewok movies and the original 2003 Clone Wars were purged from the canon).

That wasn't his choice and even Lucas regarded the EU as not canon so fan wishes would have been ignored anyway.

You're right I guess that really came from higher than JJ (Iger and Kennedy) BUT I'd debate that Lucas considered even filmed works like the Ewok movies that he contributed to non-canon (yes the prose stuff agreed though, he didn't care for it)
Abrams, and yes, he did a great job.
He didn't do a good job either for old fans like me or the mainstream audience he claimed to be marketing for who knew nothing about Trek (I've already mentioned my story about taking a woman from Tianjin, China to see the movie and she hated it and got confused why Leonard Nimoy was supposed to be important so I won't detail it again).

Quite frankly this is where CGI/AI stuff would actually work. My Tianjin acquaintance would've been less confused if we had an aged up Quinto or a deaged Nimoy, but not 2 actors playing 1 character.
