Some form of engine or powerplant that can run on pure, simple water would be a start. Also, atmosphere control processing plants, so as to cancel out the affects of human industry on the climate.

Also, I'd really, really like to see a massive network of telescopes and patrol spacecraft designed to protect Earth from collisions with asteroids and comets. I'd sleep a whole lot better at night.

1. A successful method of manufacturing human/drug proteins using transgenic chicken eggs. There has been some progress in this area but more research is definitely needed.

2. Fusion power.

3. Mass Driver for usage on the moon.

4. More mature flight control technology using Neural Network theory.
