I'm going to post this here to save you the bother of wasting your time on this particular album.
I just finished listening to Roger Waters' "Dark Side of the Moon Redux", a completely unnecessary exercise of Waters' boundless ego meant to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon", arguably one of the most important and influential rock albums of the 20th century. It's something. I'm not quite sure what, but good isn't one of them.
Amid lethargic, stripped-down versions of the original songs, Waters drones away with a wandering, boring monologue, broken only when he actually tries croaking out the lyrics. This means the instrumentals from the original album are talked over for no other reason than for Waters to enjoy the sound of his own head rattling.
The music itself is leaden. Ponderous. Completely stripped of the depth, life, spunk, and cheek of the original recording. Overlay that with Waters' boring monologuing and half-arsed attempts at singing, the resulting experience is puzzling, depressing, and one I recommend you avoid completely.
If you want to commemorate the 50th anniversary of "Dark Side of the Moon", put on your best headphones, turn off the lights, and enjoy the original - and very best - recording.
