Ambient track this time, I like it.
Stellardrone -I Don't Belong Here.

I don't know Meg Bowles's work but I'll look into it.

As for musical tastes.. started with Jean-Michel Jarre, he has been there as long as I remember, branched out to Brian Eno, Tangerine dream, Vangelis etc, also like trance, aaaand also AC/DC, then came Rammstein, I liked industrial metal, then came Ayreon, especially The Dream Sequencer, that one bridged the electronic and the metal, and at the moment my taste ranges from Daniel Lanois's work to Arch Enemy, Brian Eno to Amaranthe, Jarre to Once Human.:D

I grew up with a classical-listening dad that also had an open mind to just about any type of music. He bought me the Star Wars soundtrack in the late 70s, discovered that I had a passing interest in electronic music, so bought me Kosmos by Tomita on LP, lived for 80s pop as a younger child and teen, discovered Vangelis' Direct when I took a behind-the-scenes tour of the only OmniMax (Dome) Theatre that's fully owned by a museum at the old Science Museum of Minnesota (the changed from lease-to-own to pure rental after the SMoM had made their final payment). What I didn't realize was that Vangelis had done Cosmos and, even though I knew of the music for Chariots of Fire and loved it, I guess I didn't realize it was Vangelis at the time. Direct was being played as Muzak and I went straight to their gift shop only to discover that they only had it on tape, so I went to a local CD shop and bought it there (CDs were only a few years old at the time).

The very first CD I owned, my dad gave me with my first CD player for Christmas: Yanni's Keys to Imagination. I still listen to his first three albums regularly.

I didn't appreciate any form of metal until 8th grade. Hell, I saw "U2 Rules" on the bathroom wall and thought of writing "Metal SUCKS!" after it in 7th grade...lol. Oops.

I started the forum Ambient Online and sold it to a friend of mine that was a far better and more proficient composer than I could ever be.

Now, I go from orchestral movie and TV soundtracks to death to melodic or drone ambient (check out the tracks for the MMPO game Eve Online) to 80s pop. I can handle some country, some rap, smatterings of just about anything.

I really, really love folk and Celtic metal. Skyclad is, by far, my favorite, though I only have one of their albums (Wayward Sons of Mother Earth) and used to listen to the singer's previous band, Sabbat.

Thank you for introducing me to Ayreon and a couple of other bands you've posted here. Loving your tastes.

^^ Will do.
Really nice to know that someone actually has a similar taste.

I just stumbled over space ambient, Stellardrone is on there and quite a few other artists.

I guess the strangest thing I like is gear demonstrations, Retrosound, AnalogAudio1 etc they demonstrate old and sometimes new synthesisers which I really like, to hear each synth on its own or demo's of a string synth passed through a small stone phaser pedal like Jarre did with Oxygene..

^^This guy has a few REALLY nice synths, the big one in the back is a Moog System 55 which I would LOVE to own.. just that the bloody thing is extremely expensive..

As for Celtic metal, I don't know any specific Celtic metal band but Eluveitie is a folk metal band which split up later on and the singer, Anna Murphy started Cellar Darling which I've seen live.

Moog System 55, as in, thousand, right? Haha. Weren't there only a limited number of those produced and they were pretty much all spoken for immediately?

The one synth I would LOVE to own is an ARP 2600. Cause of reasons.

I thought about getting into a modular recently (mini modular) but decided I really don't like what they're primarily used for (described as fart noises by those in-the-know). I prefer more musical tones.

There's a softsynth that I'm looking to get ASAP called Flacon by UVI that has the most amazing DX7 piano sound I've ever heard. Whether or not it's true to the original, I'm not sure, but I'm willing to sell what I can to get that bit of software, if only for that one soundbank, itself. I had it a few years ago but had to sell it due to financial issues.

Currently listening to more Stellardrone on:

I'll check out Eluveitie, too. Thank you.

Sorry, speaking of Vangelis, my old Screenwriting and Film Production classes instructor, Hafid something-or-another, said he was an extras wrangler on Raiders of the Lost Ark in Tunisia, but damned if I've ever seen his name in any credits associated with that film...anyway, he said that he made a film that was produced just after Chariots of Fire and he had Vangelis slated to be the composer, but after Vangelis won the Oscar for Chariots his value (and rates) suddenly shot through the roof and Hafid could no longer afford him. Given that our assignment in Screenwriting class, if we ever missed a class or arrived late, was to come up with a story as to why we were late or missing on the spot, and make it as fantastical as possible, I'm dubious about his position on Raiders.

And on S1gnsOfLife, he and Phase47 teamed up after I'd sold Ambient Online to form Ascendant. Pretty decent music, if you ask me.

I've seen vintage system 55's go for 40 to 60 thousand dollar or Euro, Moog recently started making them again and a standard system 55 is about 35 thousand dollar, the Arp 2600 is a lovely synth, same with the 2500, of course I wouldn't say no to a Kong PS 3300 or the Schmidt synthesizer.

If I would build a current tech modular I think I would look at Doepfer as well.

Yup, it was Doepfer I was looking to start.

Okay, I knew the System 55 reissue was in the tens of thousands, but I overestimated it a bit.

Listened to both Meg Bowles and S1gnsOfLife, not bad, not bad at all. :mallory:
