New Wave never gets old with that refreshingly convoluted juxtaposition of happy music with depressing themes. Could it be possible if it weren't done with then-cutting edge electronic instruments?

That's sum proof pudding positive that shoehorning in instruments from preceding eras doesn't always engender the same visceral feel, but on other levels it's still fascinating.
