What should I watch next?

If you like comedies I'd say go old school to The Bob Newhart Show. It's still one of my favorites and has aged well.

And if we're going that far back, another classic from that era is M*A*S*H*.

I'm just assuming that everyone has seen M*A*S*H. But then again, not everyone is as old as me...

And yeah, I've seen M*A*S*H* MANY times. I own the DVD's, and before that, had the whole show on VHS. I just think it's one of those shows than can be seen over and iover and it never gets old.

Another "oldie" suggestion is Get Smart. Another classic that never gets old.

I'm a pretty young guy, but I also love M*A*S*H. some of the later season episodes can grate on me at times, but I can watch the Larry Gelbert years over and over again. If someone here has never seen M*A*S*H, they should. Hawkeye was one of my role models growing up. I wish I was as successful with women, but I'd like to think some of the humanity rubbed off on me.

I loved Better off Ted, which was just two seasons, but a hell of a lot of fun!

I've started watching this, loving it.

^I second that suggestion of Justified. It's a Western/Cop Drama/Comedy all rolled into one. It's like a modern-day version of Deadwood (hell, it even has Timothy Olyphant as The Lawman), with slightly less blood shed and a lot less swearing.

Saw some of that. It started out interesting, with an arc dealing with race and whatnot, and then it became another standalone-story cop show. Standalone shows are great cause I can catch an episode and like it, but feel zero need to keep coming back to them.

Isn't it Eastbound & Down?

I don't know if the OP has seen Louie, but it's brilliant. Worth seeing if one hasn't.

Yup, Louie's quite something. I've given Eatbound & Down a fair shake, but couldn't find any redeeming qualities in the main character that would cause me to root for him. There's comedy that is based on annoying the audience, but the main is usually annoying because of his naivete and kindness, not assholishness.

I have a subconscious cut-off when it comes to old TV. Only Star Trek still filters through. I grew up in Europe, so I didn't even see MASH repeats when I was a youngling, which might've given it some nostalgia value.

I don't remember anymore, but I think it took ten. Maybe 12.

In the 'if Archer, then watch X' package, Frisky Dingo has to be the top of that list for me. Made by the same team that'd go on to do Archer, it has pretty much the exact same kind of humour, if more off the wall and less grounded character-wise. At eleven minute episodes, and around twenty-two of those, it's a damn short watch, but it's funny as all hell.

Looking at TV dramas... hm. Two excellent TV dramas I've recently seen are Big Love and Homeland, although they may qualify as 'too mainstream.' Big Love is after all one of those prestige HBO dramas, and although it has wrapped up its five year run, it was a genuinely charming and moving and funny and easily made its way to one of my favourite TV shows last year.

Homeland on the other hand just concluded its first-season run on UK TV a few weeks ago, and it was one heck of a thriller.

Regarding other comedy recommendations: That Mitchell & Webb Look. I'm not even one for sketch comedy shows much, but that series is side-splittingly hilarious with an awe-inspiring consistency of such. Seen a bit of Peep Show, starring the eponymous Mitchell and Webb of the sketch comedy in a sitcom, and that's also pretty good (insert obligatory doffing of cap to Inbetweeners as another solid comedy).

I don't recall you mentioning how you are watching these shows. I'm assuming you have Netflix. I'm not sure if it's still on there, but I'd also recommend The IT Crowd, which is only a few short seasons (with another coming...at somepoint in the future). I also enjoyed that show and with four seasons of 6 episodes each, it doesn't take that long to get through. I guess, currently, there is a plan for a special sometime in 2012 to wrap up the series.

This seemed cool the few times I saw bits of it on TV, haven't yet made an effort to string a couple. Was thinking about it after seeing the actress who played V.M. on Party Down.

Inbetweeners rocked my world. Brits do good comedy. Plus One is up there too. And Man/Woman restored my faith in sketch comedy. Whoever recommended the original Office though, that one kinda went over my head. Although I'm finding a lot of comedy flounders with pilots.

Dead Like Me, Joan of Arcadia (a little heavy on teen drama but still funny and cute), Rome, Journeyman (only lasted one season but I loved it, about a guy who time travels), Camelot (a Starz original, also lasting only one season). That's all I can think of for right now.

A few more suggestions after thinking about it some more. Another hugely successful Canadian series is Little Mosque on the Prairie. Been sold internationally and has been praised at doing what it does.

Also, I haven't seen much of it, but you might be interested in InSecurity. It's a comedy set in a fictional National Intelligence and Security Agency, and it's from the producers of Corner Gas. Think Homeland crossed with Get Smart, I guess.
