What sf/f shows do you watch?

I was just curious what sff stuff people are into now and what were some older stuff they watched.

For me currently

My favorite show in recent years and most definitely this year is LOST and is probably the best series of the decade. This show has it all--interesting fresh mysteries, great twists, satisfying surprises, shocking cliffhangers. It also is a work of art for structure alone and it shows you can do all mythology all the time without any filler.

My second fave is Legend of the Seeker--great cast, entertaining stories and just an all around fun fantasy show.

Supernatural but I mainly watch this out of inertia more than being truly gripped by it. Its mythology is mostly good and contributes the better episodes but the other episodes that are rehashed one-offs don't hold my attention and worse yet seem to exist as a means to an end for some plot point to be used later. Then Dean can be hit or miss for me which is fine but when the cast is comprised of only two leads not so good.

Fringe is another show that is okay. It really hasn't pulled me in all the way. I would say I'm a fairweather viewer mainly drawn in by the mythology although the characters have gotten a bit better in recent weeks.

Flash Forward I had high hopes for but after a few episodes my interest waned. It wants to be the heir to LOST but hasn't been able to replicate its formula effectively. I'm not that into the characters more interested in the mysteries so my recommendation focus on plot and keep character scenes to a minimum because they are dull.

Finally Vampire Diaries was a show I hadn't expected to like but turned out to be a rather solid little show.

I've sampled True Blood, CAPRICA but didn't care for them. Never could get into any of the Stargates, Hercules or Xena. Underwhelmed by Buffy, Angel. Dr. Who was too silly for me. Might try B5--haven't managed to catch that.
Watched nBSG found it a tad overrated--great season and a half then a bit of a mess after that but I'll admit wonderful series finale. Enjoyed Jericho. Loved Heroes season one--probably the series that succeeded in replicating LOST.

Thought Invasion, Surface were misfires. Threshold held promise I thought too bad it wasn't given more time.

Older stuff I watch that I enjoy a great deal--TNG, DS9, ENT s3/4, Friday the 13th Series, Nowhere Man, The X-Files(I'd rather watch this even though I've seen episodes dozens of times than sit through most of its clones).

What about you?

Caprica is the only science fiction television series I watch live. I wasn't pleased with the first half of the premiere season of Stargate: Universe, but I'll finish out the back half before dropping it completely.

I've been watching a lot of Star Trek lately, due to the terrific Blu-Rays I picked up on sale recently.

I've slowly been finishing off the fifth and final season of Stargate: Atlantis. It's gotten to the point where I no longer bring any expectations to the show, and so I'm now able to enjoy it (only took three years of being worn down by crap for that to happen!). Only four episodes to go now.

And I've had The Twlight Zone checked out from the library in perpetuity it seems, and every once and a while I watch an episode.

Oh, and over the course of four months I watched all 17 episodes of The Prisoner. I saw the remake, too, on television, but it was awful and hardly worth mentioning.

That's about it. I mostly have been sticking to movies lately, when it comes to science fiction.

Currently, I'm watching:

Fringe - quite a good show, and I'm growing to like the characters. Similar to the X-Files but has a distinctive tone and feel which sets it apart. I hope the stand-alone epiosodes get a bit stronger though.

Stargate Universe - I'm a bit iffy on this, but I'll stick with it for a while. Robert Carlysle, chill out a bit, OK?

Heroes - considered dropping for a long time, but the latest season is actually pretty damn good. I only hope they're not gonna mess with the show's history too much.

Flashforward - this one captures most of my interest. Each episode gives just enough to keep me watching, even though I don't love all the characters.

Caprica - interesting look at a slightly-different alien society, kind of like an alternate earth where some things had turned out differently in history but otherwise people are essentially the same.

Thought Invasion, Surface were misfires. Threshold held promise I thought too bad it wasn't given more time.
Agreed on Threshold. Unlike most people I'd like to have seen it continue, at least for a while. The alien threat actually felt genuinely alien, not like a lot of TV sci-fi.

Current shows: Lost, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures, Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes. Been thinking of giving Caprica a try.

Past SFTV I liked or loved: various incarnations of Star Trek, Babylon 5, The X-Files, Red Dwarf, Twilight Zone, Blake's 7, Firefly, UFO, Space: 1999, Battlestar Galactica (new version only), Max Headroom, The Prisoner (original only), Total Recall 2070, Farscape, Cowboy Bebop, Twin Peaks, Serial Experiments: Lain, and who knows what I'm forgetting at the moment...

Lost - just amazing!

Heroes
- I don't know why, I can't stop watching this junk!

V - still have hopes that it can break out of its too-vanilla rut.

FlashForward
- probably a no-hoper, but I'm in it for the duration.

Chuck - fun, if bound by a limited premise.

Caprica - honestly, it's been boring me. Maybe the two episodes most recent episodes I have queued up will be better?

Stargate: Universe - gave up on it a while back; finally the franchise has fallen far enough that I can dispense with it, even if it's the sole space opera on TV.

Thought Invasion, Surface were misfires. Threshold held promise I thought too bad it wasn't given more time.

I thought Invasion was the most promising of the bunch. They should have made Sherrif Underlay the lead character from the start and dropped the family soap angle or scaled it way back.

The only show, sf or otherwise, that I watch presently is Chuck. It is awesome.

My favorite science fiction shows of the past are Deep Space Nine and Farscape. Additionally I am quite fond of the original Star Trek, Firefly, The X-Files (at least until the end of season 5), and Earth Final Conflict (until the end of season 4). I have recently become a fan of The 4400, and though I wasn't nearly as in love with it as it seems most of its fans are, I did watch and mostly enjoyed the new Battlestar Galactica.

Caprica is the only science fiction television series I watch live.

Wow. I'm impressed, you manage to make every taping. I want to attend next time I'm in Vancouver. ;)

Legend of the Seeker - Most genre enjoyable show on.

Caprica - Soap opera.

True Blood - Soap opera with vampires and bad accents.

Vampire Diaries - Rather Kevin Williamsy, let's get rid of the few adult authority figures ASAP.

Fringe (after skipping half of season one) - X-Files redux.

Stargate Universe - Soap opera in space.

Older crap:

Star Trek TNG reruns occassionally. Wierd episodic format, how did this show stay on? :p

Batman reruns, since it'll never be out on dvd in my lifetime.

Cartoons:

Batman: Brave and the Bold, missed a few though.

Wolverine and X-Men: Missed the season finale, if they aired it. No idea.

Venture Brothers: Not in love with the show like some, but it's amusing.

Clone Wars: recently got bored with it...but...

For some reason I've just lost interest in TV lately. I'm a few episodes behind on both Caprica and 24 now, and those were the only shows I had any intention of following this year to begin with.....

Trek (all forms)

BSG (original version only)

Buck Rogers

The occasional SG-1 episode (Lifeboat and Revisions are some of my faves)

I don't feel it's necessary to watch a lot of current shows. I pick a period each year to revisit some of my favourite shows ("The X-Files, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Star Trek, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Xena: Warrior Princess") and because I'm not watching them 24-7 (maybe two of those at a time for a whole year), I have enough TV to watch that I don't have time to be watching new sci-fi shows. What's the point of owning all those episodes if you're not going to watch them periodically? Putting about 9-12 months between viewings also makes sure the show still feels fresh when I get back to it. I set aside some time for "Batman: The Animated Series" each year too (I guess that could be considered sci-fi with its futuristic technology in a 30s/40s type setting).

Last year I checked out "Firefly" for the first time. I only liked about half of the episodes and found the other half boring, but I loved those good episodes enough to feel pretty good about the series overall. I enjoyed the movie too, although the big reveal was a bit disappointing and the big death was lame and unnecessary. I am currently watching "Battlestar Galactica" (re-imagining) for the first time (I have a thread about that in the BSG forum). At the beginning, I was having a hard time getting through it and thinking of giving up, but after seven episodes I finally got into it and now I'm hooked.

I want to check out "Angel" eventually. I like the other Whedon shows a lot, so I expect to dig it. The only new sorta sci-fi show I'm interested in is "The Brave and the Bold" which I check out periodically, although the number of episodes I've been really blown away by is short so far (just the Batmite one, and the Red Hood one with the alternate universe).

I have started watching random episodes of "The Avengers" from the 60s. I am developing a huge crush on Mrs. Emma Peal!

Lost
Caprica
Smallville
Stargate Universe
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
V

Wait, I forgot Heroes, but I suppose that might be canceled so we'll see.

Fringe
Heroes
Star Wars: The Clone Wars

on hiatus:
FlashForward
Doctor Who
Torchwood
Sarah-Jane Adventures
Ashes to Ashes
Merlin

Currently on TV I'm watching Caprica (which I think is rather good) and the cartoon The Clone Wars (which isn't as good as Caprica, to put it tritely.)

Right now, that's about it. I've just wrapped up Crusade, though (the X Files episode was terrible).

Currently:

LOST. Wow. I can't even begin to explain how much I love this show.

Chuck. Fun--but a bit limited.

Fringe. Barely made it through season 1, but hubby insisted. Season 2 was far better, and I really LOVE Walter.

Stargate Universe. The jury is still out on this one, but I adored SG1, so I'm giving it a chance. Been off for awhile, but will be back on soon.

V. Loved V (the miniseries) when I was a kid. This one? Not so much. I'll give it a few more episodes, but I'm on the fence right now.

Heroes. God dang it, this started out soooo good, and now...it's just an exercise in frustration. But I'm hanging in until the bitter end because I have to see how it ends.

On hiatus:
Dr. Who and Torchwood.
I am crazy for Dr. Who; loved it since the Tom Baker years. I cried like a baby when no. 10 left. Now I'm going into withdrawal because I'm not going to get any new Dr. Who for AGES!
Also hoping Being Human will be back on BBCA some time soon.

Lately I've been watching Enterprise, Caprica, and Chuck.

Chuck is pure awesome in a bottle, and Enterprise is proving to be better than I remember. Capricia is boring

Currently on/new.

Smallville, Lost, The Vampire Diaries & Supernatural.

I may try to watch V again.

BBC America recently announced they'd picked up Being Human series 2 and 3. 2 will be shown late summer I think they said and 3 is airing here early next year, so maybe they'll show 3 sooner.

Shows that are still on the air...

Ashes to Ashes
Being Human
Being Erica
Chuck
Doctor Who
Lost
Merlin
Stargate Universe
Caprica
Primeval
Survivors
Misfits
Sarah Jane Adventures
Sanctuary
Supernatural

this season of Heroes is recorded but not watched yet, same goes for The Vampire Diaries. There are probably others too that I'm forgetting.
