What season 5 ideas sounded most promising to you?

Manny Coto, Mike Sussman, and JGRS have provided a lot of ideas for what may have come in season 5 over the years, some of those idea I thought interesting, others I was kind of iffy about (though, to be fair, I was also dubious about the idea when I heard they were making yet another mirror universe episode).

-The plan to have Shran join the crew (and presumably making Jeffrey Combs a series regular) is well known. I don't think anyone would've had a problem with that (except maybe Anthony Montgomery and Linda Park playing second fiddle to YET ANOTHER actor ). Seeing Shran adjust to life wth humans and learning about their culture (i.e. going to movie night) sounds fun. I don't think you have him calling Archer "pink-skin" anymore (which frankly probably woud've been for the best given the somewhat racist implications).

-I don't think the idea of visiting Stratos excited me as much as it did Manny Coto, but I'm sure they could've pulled it off.

-Probably the only idea I really didn't care for was JGRS' idea of having a Starfleet med tech (played by Alice Krige) who turns into the Borg Queen. It's too Earth-centric and makes little sense, since the Borg are on the other side of the galaxy at this point.

-I heard about the idea of having them encounter Flint and immediately thought Tim Daly would've been the perfect choice to take over his father's role (assuming they could afford him). I think you'd have to address the implausibility of a near-immortal human. Maybe he wasn't totally human, or was enhanced by some advanced alien race, for some reason.

-I admit to having some reservations about a Kzinti story, largely because I grew up considering the Animated Series non-canon. I admit to being skeptical that they could depict them convincingly anyway in prosthetics, let alone CG (furry CG characters are notoriously difficult to render).

-As much as I liked "In a Mirror, Darkly", I'm not sure about revisiting the mirror universe. I think DS9 ended up going to that well a few too many times and wouldn't have wanted "Enterprise" to repeat that mistake.

I liked themention of events leading up to the Romulan wars or seeing the Aftermath of the political events on Vulcan continued from season 4.They even mentioned at one time having Guinan and some Vulcan scientist appearing in one of their season 5 shows building Starfleet's first major space station outside of Earth's Solar system.

+1: Shran on the crew; Starbase 1; Papa 'Pol; Denobula ho!

-1: Stratos; Mirror universe (AGAIN)

0 (neutral): Flint

-5,000,000: Borq Queen; the fucking Kzinti.

Still not sure about the NX-01.5. I mean, OK, neat...but I liked that NX-01 had its own "unfinished" look to it.

Things I wanted out of ENT season 5 and beyond.

Earth-Romulan War and a righteous follow up to the conclusion of that conflict. Unlike what we saw with The Dominion War.

More Captain Hernandez

More NX class ships

Hoshi and Travis to have bigger roles and to be promoted. Seriously 10 years an ensign is absurd and unrealistic.

Steps taken toward the founding of the Coalition of Planets.

No These Are The Voyages

I think the Borg Queen origin story could have been the best, if done right. It certainly would have explained her obsession with humanity and Earth.

The Kzinti might have worked, but I suspect the story would have been a recycled version of DS9's "The Abandoned", which would be a criminal waste of such an awesome species.

The NX-01.5 upgrade totally ruins the sleek NX-class design, IMO.

Listen, Janeway needed a precedent to cite for never promoting Harry Kim; they were it.

And then ST09 came along and showed you could graduate Starfleet Academy with a rank of LT.

As for 24th Century ranks though. I'll let LT. Commander Data explain.

In summation, Harry Kim was screwed over royally. Not much is known about the ranks of the 22nd century but 10 years is far to long to be the lowest commissioned officer.

Wow... what's with all the hate for the Kzinti? That's my favourite idea on the list. Would have loved to see it.

Also would have loved to see the sequel Mirror Universe episode.

I will agree that the Borg Queen idea sounds terrible.

Uh, because the Kzinti SUCK & should never have been allowed into this universe in the first place. Replace it with "Tzenkethi" & you've got something. Or, if you're all fired up about CGI cat people, this is how we met the Caitians--they were originally hostil to the pre-Federation but then suddenly decided they liked us. Why? They're cats, & as Lazarus Long said, "Women & cats do what they do, & there is nothing a man can do about it." (And shut your filthy face about them being "tamed" offshoots of Kzinti! This is a FAMILY restaurant & we don't heed that type of speak around here!)

Thank goodness, this idea was never followed up on:

In the special features for ENT Season 4 DVD, André Bormanis claimed that many ideas for Porthos episodes were pitched. These included Porthos becoming intelligent, Porthos being the only member of the crew capable of communicating with a canine alien, and even Porthos having to take command of the ship.

Wow! That would have been the most ridiculous episode of Star Trek ever made!

TATV was monumentally bad and an insult to fandom, but it would have required improvement by an order of magnitude to pass muster as merely ridiculous.

BTW, love the Shran idea, would have loved to see a KSMcC dynamic emerge between him, Archer and T'Pol.

Given that they managed to make the MU interesting again, I'm willing to have a little faith and leave it at, "I would have liked to have seen them try," for all of the above.

Even if some of the ideas fell flat, it's possible I'd at least have given them points for trying.

Having come close to getting Shatner to guest-star in Season 4, I'd have hoped for him to have been won over by a story idea next year. If nothing else, Enterprise's ratings might've suddenly skyrocketed back to "Broken Bow" levels for a few weeks, thanks to the publicity. The pressure's then on, for the series to try and keep as much of that audience as it can.

From watching Scott meet Bill in his Captains documentary, I get the impression it would've been a much needed fun, lighthearted episode. Then going back through the series and you suddenly picture Shatner around the corner, just out of shot, anytime the Chef gets a mention.

What's KSMcC ?
