What never/poorly adapted novel/comic series would you like to see?

Re: What never/poorly adapted novel/comic series would you like to see

A decent adaptation of Starship Troopers would be very welcome.

Would also like to see a War of The Worlds that keeps the original setting/flavor of the book. Cast Kenneth Brannaugh as the narrator/journalist for starters.

Re: What never/poorly adapted novel/comic series would you like to see

I'm mainly just hoping the Fantastic Four movie reboot doesn't suck as much monkey sweat as the first two did...

Also, I want Larry Hama to write and produce any further GIJoe adaptations, just so they're presented by someone who knows what he's doing.

Re: What never/poorly adapted novel/comic series would you like to see

There are several comics I'd like to see adapted.

X-Factor, based on PAD's version, would be cool. A group of mutant investigators, with a lot of cool characters, solving some mutant related crime. Since PAD's done TV scripts, a script or at least story by him would be awesome, and having a cast that is basically just the main cast from the comic. Also, they could even stick in a random Wolverine cameo if they wanted, which would make the company people happy :rommie:

A Justice League movie based off either the exact team, or done in the style of, Giffen/DeMatteis's Justice League America/International/Europe, would be great. They can do a series story, but have some humor and likeable characters that aren't afraid to not be angsty, and have their own personalities. I'd prefer a more JLI type cast: Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Martian Manhunter, Guy Gardner, Fire, Ice, and Batman (for the mainstream hero), but using the Giffen/DeMatteis style/tone of their JL books for a normal JL cast, or even a spinoff JL International/Europe movie while doing a less fun JLA movie, would be cool, too.

Justice Society of America would also be awesome, either as a WWII period movie or using Geoff Johns version, with newer/older heroes together.

For an individual character's movie, I'm torn. I'd like to see Captain Marvel, but I'd want an adaptation of the real version, not the New 52's "Shazam", complete with original Marvel family (not those stupid orphans from the Johns Shazam stories), and I don't see that happening.

While she's my favorite Marvel hero, She-Hulk is a character I honestly believe can't be done in live action. Her specific look isn't really real life or CG friendly, and she'd probably just look weird. But, a DC style direct to DVD animated movie with her would be cool. They could make it a Hulk/She-Hulk thing, a She-Hulk/FF thing, or just a solo movie.

I could go on, there is a lot of stuff that could be cool to see adapted that isn't as well known. Marvel looks like they could take those kind of chances, especially if GotG, which is pretty different for a Marvel movie, is profitable. I don't see DC ever taking those kind of chances, especially with stuff that isn't just a rehash of the same style/tone ever DC movie has had since Batman Begins, but there is definitely potential.

World War Z - a proper mini-series adaptation instead of that crap movie with Brad Pitt.
Bernard Cornwell's Saxon Stories series - it can make a great Vikings style TV show.

But above all, I'd like someone to adapt Cornwell's Warlord Chronicles, a "realistic" King Arthur story, set in late 5th century Britain.

Re: What never/poorly adapted novel/comic series would you like to see

A version of the Tripods trilogy that scores over the old BBC one by being both finished and by not padding out the very thin books with grape crushing (in places the first series is like what you'd get if Peter Jackson had to pad out the Hobbit to three films but with no money).

Beat me to it, I was going to come back here and mention World War Z :)

To throw some more out there, I'd love a straight up adaption of Kick-Ass (all volumes) done. I think it'd work decently as a mini-series and they could also include all four books.

Re: What never/poorly adapted novel/comic series would you like to see

Neuromancer ( but with smartphones )

The Book of the New Sun

Re: What never/poorly adapted novel/comic series would you like to see

Not a comic or a novel but a game, Starcraft! :D Maybe if the Warcraft movie is a huge success then Starcraft...I think Diablo is in development???

This was kinda close: http://www.trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=233447

I want to see Harry Harrison's Eden Series. (West of Eden, Winter in Eden and Return to Eden)

Re: What never/poorly adapted novel/comic series would you like to see

As much as I loved the '79 version of Buck Rogers (the TV series) - it was a huge part of my childhood and one of my favorite shows of all time - I find myself hoping that the reboot would have gotten off the ground.

Yes, this is Gil Gerard and Erin Gray, playing Buck's parents:

Ever seen this?

Kinda cheesy, but I'd have watched heck out of it. :D

I know it won't happen because it's too much like Robocop, but Dethlok the Demolisher. The original one from the Astonishing Tales series. Also, a proper adaptation of The Dresden Files. I liked the tv series good enough, but they changed too much of it in my opinion.

Elric would be awesome if done right.

Neuromancer ( but with smartphones )

Google Glass?

I almost wonder if Agents of Shield isn't going in the Deathlok direction with J. August Richards' character.

When I was a kid I loved the books, but they would definitely need some pretty heavy adaptation to work as either films or a series.

So that never did get made then? I had been really looking forward to it, but never found out what happened to it.
