What kind of technologies would you like to see one day made real?

Ha..... Thank you for pointing that out. I'll never look at my phone the same again lol

Haha, no problem! It only occured to me rather recently the more I thought about it. Here's a device that looks up something based on what you're pointing at and gives you information, which is technically what a Tricorder is all about, especially if you're in an unfamiliar place like on an away mission full of foreign vegetation or wildlife. Only in this case, what we have is likely more advanced than what they had ;)

And bonus if you have one of those foldable phones.

Oh and with Google Gemini you can ask about what the phone is looking at and it literally spits out information. It's fun

Oh, I didn't know about that one. I don't know if my phone is fully capable of using Gemini. I've been needing a new one for a while now.

I tried it for fun looking at stuff in a supermarket and it literally talks to you telling you all about what the camera is looking at. Feels very Star Trek

I mean a hypospray. I'm very sensitive to needles.
In 5th grade(1970s California), they had some sort of group innoculation for the school, and I was dreading the needles (orderlies had to hold me down for them when I was younger, like a human version of angry cat at the vet) and the nurse had some sort of gun that used a jet of air to work. I didn't even feel it. I wished they were all like that. Getting like 500 allergy shots later fixed that dread.

I don't know why those are not more common

Cricket obsoleted mine because of CDMA around 2015. Jerks sold me the phone a year earlier.

Flip phone? I meant more in terms of the new foldables, but those would work too. In fact, some of the newer foldables try to mimic old flip phones. I've been considering getting one as my next phone, such as the Motorola Razr, but my concerns are how durable are they if you can't really use a case for one like you would on a regular phone.

If you want reliability & sturdiness, stick with a Candy Bar phone.

If you're willing to give up on the durability aspect, then foldables will have some advantages for you.

Zack from 'Jerry Rig EveryThing' was able to do destructive testing to the point that a 'Pixel 10 Pro Fold' caught on fire due to bad placement of the Antenna lines and bending of the phone.

10+ Years of destructive testing for every kind of phone & this is the first phone to catch on fire.

I love that channel. I posted the same video in the official video thread.

He does some very destructive testing on items

As cool as some Folding Phones are, including the new Triple Folders, the lack of Reliability & Durability of the mechanical aspects + Plastic Screen Protector will always be a down-side that you can't seem to get rid of.

And we already have Candy Bar Phones & Tablets, so I don't see the value in Foldable Phones since I have both devices.

Now I've seen everything

By Candy Bar you mean a standard format phone, don't you? Yeah, I'm actually likely to go for a Pixel 9, and a standard one at that.

Yup, as long as it doesn't have any "Moving Parts".

Yes some phones do have moving parts.

Why they thought the need to integrate a Gymbal mounted Camera Sensor into the Smart Phone, is beyond me.
There are some obviously cool party tricks you can do with that.

But at the end of the day, I'd rather just get a seperate Gymbal Stabilized Camera than have it integrated into my SmartPhone.

Yeah, I'm actually likely to go for a Pixel 9, and a standard one at that.
Neat.
