What is your one favourite game ever?

That rumor sounds like hogwash to me. They've always been X-Box exclusive and there is no way they would put one of their sequels exclusively on that loser system.

When I say a whiles back I'm talking about pre-360/PS3 release. Before they released Mass Effect and way before SW:TOR was even a glimmer in gamers eyes.

Either way, I don't see why you're so confident that it would be an exclusive. Assasin's Creed, Bioshock, Tales of Vesparia, Eternal Sonata, and Final Fantasy XIII and Devil May Cry 4 all started out as system exclusives. Look what happened to that ;)

Because The X-Box is doing well where as the PS3 is not.
Well that depends on the region we are talking about. the PS3 is beating the 360 in japan, is on somewhat level footing with it in Europe and is losing to the 360 in America
That's why most developers canceled their exclusives with Sony.
Developers cancelled exclusivity because they make more money by having their games on multiple systems rather than on an exclusive system unless the console maker is willing to shell out massive amounts of cash for exclusivity rights. But lets play your game for a second and follow your reasoning. If companies are bailing on their exclusives for the PS3 because the PS3 sucks, they why are they doing the same with the 360. Explain away tales of Vesparia and Eternal Sonata as well as Bioshock
, Bioware is always associated with X-Box. It's where they made it big.
Square said the same thing about Nintendo once upon a time

If X-Box starts to tank then they might jump ship, but to jump ship for a near-dead system like PS3 and give them an exclusive sequel to a game that was exclusively on X-Box 1.0 is just delusional thinking on the part of PS3 fans.
 well this part explains alot. Youre a fanboy, I should have seen that one coming :guffaw:

Anyways, to show that I am not all talk

360- 30.57 Million
ps3-22.61 million

I would hardly call that being "near dead"

I wouldn't call it "near dead", though the number isn't terribly impressive in comparison (especially since quite a few of those were bought because the PS3 was the cheapest available Blu-ray player). :)

can't narrow it down too much so I"ll do it by platform

Genesis - Sonic 2
PSX - FF7/Xenogears/Metal Gear Solid
PS2 - God of War
XBOX - Forza Motorsport/Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath
PC - Morrowind, Oblivion, Max Payne 1 & 2, Half Life series

Which was essentially Sony's plan. And it worked too. One format is dead, and one is alive. When you get down to it, both Microsoft and Sony arent looking at their machines as game consoles but home media centers. The only company still viewing their product as a game console is Nintendo, and god bless em for it ;)

It can also be argued that a good number of those 360 numbers are from people who have busted consoles :p

Anyways since I like numbers, heres more of a break down

US
360 17.42 Mill
PS3 8.65 Mil

Europe
360- 12.07 Mil
PS3- 10.72 Mil

Japan
360- 1.07 Mil
Ps3- 3.24 Mil

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Everything just works, and it is the perfect length for a game.

By the way, does anyone have LttP on the Virtual Console? Is everything the same as the original version? My SNES is starting to lose functionality, and the GBA version has changed some of the sound effects.

Very close competition between Final Fantasy 7, Civilization 2, and SimCity 2000. I gotta give it to FFVII though. I genuinely believe it is the closest to perfect entertainment that any video game has ever achieved. At least, for me.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Fuck Yes. Every Zelda game since has been a blatant copy of it.

I'd have to say Ocarina of Time. The two sit 1 and 2 with me, but OOT sucked me in like no other games had before it. Not to take anything from LTTP, though.

Mario 64 is up there too. It is really dated now, but it is still fun to play and was utterly amazing when it first came out--I had played nothing like it at the time.

And Super Mario World.

Probably Diablo II+Lord Of Destruction expansion. I tried all the characters, with every available patch, got to the end of Nightmare difficulty with everyone, but succeeded in beating all 3 difficulties only with Sorceress before the 1.09 patch. After it the game became impossibly difficult on Hell difficulty.

I like the platform idea.

NES - Super Mario Bros. 3
SNES - Lufia II
Genesis - Phantasy Star IV
Playstation - Final Fantasy Tactics
PC - StarCraft
N64 - Goldeneye 007

I can't speak for Europe, but the Japanese are bunch of cultural racists who will never buy a non-Japanese system if they can help it. Shit, The Gamecube was beating the original X-Box in Japan.

Then explain away Final Fantasy 13 to me. They were jumping ship on Sony for a while because of the lackluster sales and because of the blue-ray format. Their sales have gotten better because they lowered the price, and because Microsoft were dumb to not make more exclusive deals. How many former exclusives did they lose? GTA, Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy off the top of my head. The only one they kept was Metal Gear. And I've had people flat out tell me that was the only reason they bought a PS3 and then sold it right after for a 360.

You wound me good sir. You wound me. I root for Microsoft because I'm glad to see the Japanese stranglehold on the industry being broken.

Square said the same thing about Nintendo once upon a time
But that's Nintendo for you. They refused to go CD format with The 64 and everyone abandoned them for Sony, and latter Microsoft. It was their own fault. They were forced to mostly develop in house since then. They always had great in house development to get them by. Microsoft and Sony don't. Although it was a sad day when Rare got bought - and destroyed - by Microsoft. Microsoft knows it's bread and butter is third party and does not take them for granted like Nintendo and now Sony did.

Oh, it's gotten better because they've lowered the price. I should have said "once near dead" because their sales were awful for a while there. Their sales in the USA are still pitiful though. They thought brand loyalty would save them. There's only one game company that has brand loyalty, and that's Nintendo. And they've kind of thrown their fans to the wolves with The Wii.

No question for me: Tie Fighter.

Ditto. That game was all types of great! There has not been a game that pulled me in quite like Tie Fighter did. I loved all parts of it, except escorts missions! God did I hate (and still do) escort missions.

I wish I could still play that game, or that they would a) reissue it with today's graphics or b) make a sequel!

I would choose between GoldenEye 64, TIE Fighter, and the Sega Genesis Sonic series (as a whole). Then I would have Fallout 3 pretty close behind those, with a few others like the first KOTOR.

Who cares? Sales are sales. Personally, I loved my gamecube

:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw: I ALREADY explained that to you. Here, I'll bold it for you

game developers make more money by having their games on multiple consoles Lets do the math here. 30 million 360s. 22 million PS3s. You release a 360 exclusive, at best you will sell to 30 million users. Make a PS3 exclusive and the best you will sell is 22 million copies. Sell for both systems and you have 52 million potential buyers. Its all about the math and making money

You wound me good sir. You wound me. I root for Microsoft because I'm glad to see the Japanese stranglehold on the industry being broken.
With the Wii selling more than the PS3 and 360 combined I somehow doubt the Japanese stranglehold is broken. Personally, I don't care who makes the games, a good game is a good game either way

Where on earth are you getting this abandonment thing from??? It isn't about being abused by their former partners this is all about business. You are taking straight up business decisions and turning them into some sort of agenda. It has nothing to do with that. its all about development costs rising leading to the need to sell more copies than in the past. As a result, the game developers have decided to focus more on multi-platform games than exclusives.

Broken logic. Your statement can then be taken and applied to the 360, which was lagging in sales prompting the drop in 360 prices

And yet again, to show I'm not making this stuff up

I root for Microsoft because I'm glad to see the Japanese stranglehold on the industry being broken.

Only to be replaced by poorly designed and highly unreliable American products...

...Oh wait! you forgot about the Wii! Nintendo have - what's the word? - annihilated Microsoft this generation. They're still a Japanese company, last time I checked.

X-COM. Hands down my favorite. Then maybe Master of Orion I/I and Half-Life II.

TIE Fighter was pretty good too. My only problem was that the Missile Boat you were flying near the end of the game was just a little TOO powerful.
