What is your least favorite episode?

^

Even 'Crossover'? It was awesome!

And 'Move Along Home' is still my sister's favorite DS9 episode. Go figure.

Eh...well, you're free to like it...I thought it was a horrid introduction to a stupid plot thread.

And Photon: I'm not sure that I've ever been actively turned off more by any female in Trek than Bizarro Kira.

Many episodes mentioned in this thread are not good, but don't necessarily spring to mind as being the worst - some are badly written, others, like The Prodigal Daughter are just plain dull.

Move Along Home is definitely my least favourite though - it manages to mix bad writing with boredom and with cheese and I can't stand cheese. "Allamaraine!!!!"

Meridian's A-Story was shockingly dull and cheesy and Jadzia's behaviour is just not believable at all and completely out of character - I couldn't imagine her of all people wanting to leave all her friends behind and her life just to be with some random guy she met a few days previously. As for the episode as a whole, the B-story involving the pervert wanting a hologram of Kira kind of made up for the bad A-story, especially with the Kira hologram with Quark's head near the end.

Let He Who Is Without Sin

Someone probably thought this episode was making some kind of point about a certain type of ultra-moralist personality, but like in much bad fiction the protagonist comes across as so incredibly stupid and pointless it just makes it laughable. Couldn't somebody have just pointed out to him that everybody on Risa is on vacation?

So Bad It's Great: Fascination
Yes, that's right -I like this episode! It's loony. I laugh all the time when I watch it. Guiltiest of pleasures!

Fascination and a few others like it are why I love TOS and DS9 so much. TNG had some Q eps that were like this but outside of that not really a lot of these type of episodes, I can't remember any in Voy, maybe a couple with the Doctor but it didn't have a ton of them. The other series in Trek take the shows way too seriously.

In DS9 more than the other two series you have a lot of episodes that are just done for fun and humor. Another couple of DS9 eps done this way are Q-Less, If Wishes Were Horses, Trials and Tribbleations, and a few of the Ferrengi episodes were also like this. These were really done for comedy. TOS was great at that with a lot of their episodes which always made me drawn to it the most.

My least favorites are most of the Mirror Universe epsidoes, I just don't think they were ever really done that well outside of Worf's character, and Distant Voices

Extreme Measures.

Not because it was all bad—that one really long single take scene with O'Brien and Bashir sitting wounded in a corridor is a nice bookend to one of the nicest relationships between characters in the franchise—but because it was a poor episode at a time in the series (just two shows more to go) when a poor episode couldn't be afforded.

(Then again, some people like the Section 31 shows.)

Any episode related to section 31 is pure, undistilled win in my opinion. As for extreme measures, the analogy of entering Sloan's thoughts certainly had its problems, but overlooking that, it seemed to me like a fairly decent episode when I watched it.

babel and meridian, plus that STUPID one where the runabout shrinks, that is the WORST one ever - makes rascals of TNG and lizard de-evolution episode of Voyager believable.

I think that DS9 is the only Trek that has no truly awful episodes with absolutely no redeemable qualities.

That being said, there are some bad ones. Let He Who Is Without Sin... is my least favorite. It makes no freaking sense.

I guess you didn't watch season 7 then. I would rank it down there with Season 2 of Enterprise as one of the worst seasons in Trek history.

Sorry. I've seen them all. Usually DS9 episodes have something to save them from being an absolute failure. The writing might be bad, but the acting is decent. The pacing might be bad, but the cinematography is well done. there is usually something that makes you think that the experience wasn't a complete loss.

Even a bad episode of Trek is better than most TV. There are about 20 episodes on my list of truly bad Trek. None of those episodes were on DS9. This doesn't mean that I don't dislike some DS9 episodes though. Quite a few of the DS9 episodes I don't like are in Season 7, but I wouldn't say that they were total trash.

Valient

Those children deserved what they got, especially the Captain. God I hated that episode with a passion.

I had the opposite reaction, I feel it was a great episode precisely because they got killed. It was a good episode with the right message; overconfidence can get you killed.

It is a similar reaction I had when I watched The Way to Eden for the first time. I absolutely loathed the episode, and nobody had prepared me for the horror of the hippie singing, but when Adam's utter stupidity got himself killed I found something to appreciate about it and gave it two stars. I'm probably the only person in history who has been that generous.

... the horror of the hippie singing ...
:( Aww, the songs from The Way to Eden are the reason why I love this episode so much! But I guess it's a matter of musical taste – some people have it and some people don't. :D

(Oh, and just to clarify, I belong to the former group of people. :shifty:)
