What is your least favorite episode?

"Profit and Lace" left me with a sick feeling inside, the worst scene was Quark being chased around the quarters of a horny male ferengi then making out with him :( It was doubly disappointing too because I love most of the Ferengi episodes.

My second choice is the Risa episode (He who is without sin), its the only episode I couldn't even bring myself to finish.

I don't know if they are my least favorite because I haven't really seen them much, but I really avoid the mirror universe episodes. They took a somewhat decent premise and just hammered at it over and over.

Don't shoot me, but I really didn't mind Move Along Home. I don't see why Odo didn't just threaten to kill the aliens though.
Q-Less was a weak TNG episode that somehow ended up taking place on Deep Space Nine. Vash is really beautiful though.
Meridian made no sense, and yes, Avery Brooks's big emotional scene was wasted.

I have to say 'The Muse', I (like the above poster) don't mind Move Along Home as while the episode is meh it's still entertaining on a light-hearted level. I can also forgive a few early episodes where the show is a little shaky, but I find The Muse to be an incredibly dull crud episode. Especially since it's in such a strong period of the show, the potential for good episodes is much better but for some reason it's just garbage.

Though I feel Lwaxana Troi is (and basically always was) a character whose arrival meant you were in for a poor episode.

I notice a few people mentioned Fascination, but having just re-watched it I've got to say that it's pure awesomeness! The scene with Lwaxana Troi spinning Odo around may be the funniest thing I've seen on Trek.

Fascination is one of my guilty pleasures. I know I should dislike it, but I think it's kind of fun. Sisko's reaction at the end of the episode when he finds out that all the behavior is caused by latent attraction and gets all weirded out that Jadzia (or Dax, we're not sure which) is attracted to him is priceless.

But the idea is simply stupid, because we never see any sort of sexual attraction, latent or not, between any of these people, before or after that episode. And even if there were, everyone acts so totally out of character in that episode that it is really ridiculous. Not funny, just embarrasingly ridiculous.

Well that was kind of the whole point. Bashir said it was on a sub-conscious level so the person themselves probably weren't too aware of it. Like Bareil disapproving of Jadzia, but deep down harboring an attraction for that type of woman. And they acted out of character because they were being telepathically influenced. I admit Fascination is one of my favorite episodes too.

I hate those kind of episodes, that basically boil down to "They're telepathically influenced, so we can get away with any kind of ridiculous crap that will have no bearing on the rest of the show." :rommie:

I dunno, I enjoy seeing the characters acting out-of-character (when they're supposed to be and not because of crappy writing)

For me, my least favorite is one I just found completely boring from start to finish without even one little thing about it for me to say "well, at least it had that." That episode is Second Sight.

Wow, a few of my favourite were mentioned here too. Like Chrysalis for example, I loved the two episodes with those guys.
I just love this scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9ht-5RmO9E :)

Now, I should pick a least favourite episode? If you mean which one I hate, then sorry, I don't hate any of them. :alienblush: :) Okay, maybe Profit and Lace. :guffaw: Though there were a few funny moments in that one too.

I liked the genetically-enhanced bunch, too. I liked "Statistical Probabilities" more, but 'Chrysalis" is not bad, either. I'm not sure why people hate it, sure, it was a standalone, but there were many worse ones. The actress who played Serina was good, and you feel really sorry for Bashir and at the same time cringe at his inability to realize that he's doing is wrong. Compare episodes like these to Bashir episodes of early seasons like "Melora", and you see how much more interesting and sympathetic his character got over the seasons.

Valient

Those children deserved what they got, especially the Captain. God I hated that episode with a passion.

I guess they were trying to remake and combine Taps and Lord of the Flies, but I also disliked that ep.

Reading through this thread reminded me of some of the truly awful DSN eps, esp. Let He Who Is Without Sin and One Little Ship, a poor man's Fantastic Voyage! Ack!

I have a new least favorite: Rejoined. It suffers from the same problem as Profit and Loss, which is that I never felt invested in the central love story. It also suffers from giving Terry Farrell too much to do, as she simply doesn’t have the acting chops of everybody else in the cast. This episode is probably one of her best performances, but it still isn’t good enough. Another problem is that it’s difficult to reconcile with things we have already learned about Trills; see Curzon’s big secret.

I really hated "The Storyteller". From start to finish it seemed contrived and forced, and it was completely predictable. It just seemed like a bad excuse to throw O'Brien and Bashir together, and the entire premise of the danger to the village struck me as completely ludicrous.

My biggest complaint with "Move Along Home" is that in the end, nobody was ever in any danger. I hate when shows end with "it was just a game" or "it was all a dream". They also made absolutely no attempt at explaining how the aliens accomplished getting the players into the game. Even though parts of the episode were silly, I didn't mind the silliness nearly as much as I minded that nothing that happened mattered in the least in the end. Not even Quark really learned anything from his actions.

"If Wishes Were Horses" was an interesting premise executed poorly. That's a thematic complaint I have with Star Trek in general. Sometimes they start with an interesting idea and then muck it up with bad pacing, shoddy writing, and half-baked conclusions. Fortunately, it doesn't happen too often, or I wouldn't love the franchise nearly as much as I do.

My post is focused on the first season because it's the one I most recently watched. My memory of the other seasons is not as good, and I haven't yet seen the last three seasons. I'm sure I'll have more to add to my list once I get further into the series.

A lot of people are picking episodes like Move Along Home, If Wishes Were Horses, and Fascination.

To me, episodes like that can’t qualify as “worst” because they don’t take themselves very seriously. If the attempts at whimsy fail, then the episode is at worst a forgettable waste of an hour. An episode like Melora, on the other hand, is memorably bad.
