In other words, it's not franchise fatigue, it's bad Star Trek fatigue.
I compared ratings to other ST series seasons to ENT season 4, and its right up there...possibly 3rd EVER for ST.
RAMA
The ratings decline speaks volumes of the lack of quality in the episodes, not "franchise fatigue." If that was the case, it would have taken more than five years to go away.
Might want to recheck those figures.

I would've been fine with the theme song if they'd dumped it completely in the third season (when it was no longer thematically appropriate) and replaced it with this, instead of remixing it with acoustic guitars.
Because, for once in their life, they were trying a different approach.I suspected as much. Considering how good it sounds, why did they go with a generic soft rock song instead? Not that I have a problem with the Faith of the Heart version, but why?
I didn't like it myself, but I commend them for giving it a go. To me, the orchestrated theme songs of every series makes them timeless. By simply using someone else's song I think Enterprise becomes dated. Does that make any sense at all? Additionally, I roll my eyes at "phase pistols" and "hull plating offline!". If you're going to treat them like phasers and shields, just call them that.
Though I'd prefer it if they just had traditional firearms, but again, it's just a little irksome.
