What is your favorite Star Trek Prop??

My favorite Trek prop is the TNG/DS9/VOY series of tricorders. They're bristling with distracting, meaningless blinky lights, and the display screen is too small to be useful as a field device.

In other words, it exists merely to look cool. And it does look cool.

Probably the TOS Comm, phaser & tricorder. All iconic pieces. My own personal favorite piece I built was a mock up of Spock's bridge console I did years ago while I was growing up. It has a lot of sentimental value. :)

That's awesome!

Thanks. I scavenged a lot of stuff around the house while making it. I was a kid and had no money to speak of to buy much for it. But I learned a lot while building it. Also, I had made a helm console and viewscreen but alas those were not saved.

TOS: McCoy's Medical Scanners. They were really salt and pepper shakers. True trivia fact. :)

Maybe. In The Making of Star Trek you can see that some of the conical surgical devices are salt shakers, but I've never seen anything that indicates the scanner he waves over people is a salt shaker. Have you?

I was participating in a Trek Trivia. I got the century right for TOS; the origin for Sarek & Amanda's clothing (the cloth was from the Meyer era, when Biblical movies were all the rage). But I did not know McCoy's small black & clear "medical scanners" were salt & pepper shakers. The Special Effects Dept. made them twinkle in post-production. Oh, and the proto-type for Geordi's visor was a woman's hair band. I didn't know that one, either. ;)

TOS Comm, by far and away.

TOS P2 and Tricorder are tied for second.

Scrutinized onscreen ad nauseum as a kid, and right up to today!

The original communicators (series) and the original phaser-I weapons.

The "cricket" phaser from the first season of TNG was pretty cool, too.

Enterprise's plasma bullet pistols from "Broken Bow." They packed a punch, yet looked less advanced than the TOS phasers.

TOS field epuipment has so much style and a unique design and build by Wah chang and his team. Phasers/communicators/tricorders/scanners/anti-grav lifters etc etc.

I liked the wrist comms from TMP aswel, different and just looked cool.

Oh, and im forgetting Kirks Penis Rock© from 'What are little Girls Made of'

My favorite is the original Type II Phaser. not only was it one sleek looking weapon, but I loved that the design took into account that it was going to fire light and not bullets. Possibly a first for science fiction "Ray Guns".

A Star Trek trivia what?

Everything I've seen indicates that the salt shakers were some of the surgical implements, and while I can buy that his little hand scanner might've been a modified salt shaker, I don't buy that anything was done to McCoy's props in post. They had a heckuva time keepign the phaser beams attached to the weapons...I doubt they'd be animating little twinkles on McCoy's scanner.

The TOS phaser must be it for me, I love those things. Planning on buying one for myself one day if I ever decide to dress up like Kirk/Spock for the Star Trek XI premiere in Sweden.
