To quote Dobie Grey, I think it was, the original is still the greatest.

Three times they remake this movie. I would have loved to have seen a sequel.

I like the 1978 version. It's the one I saw first and the one that freaked me the fuck out when I was a kid.

'78 version apparently heavily features San Francisco. Mix in Nimoy, Goldblum and Sutherland, and that's pretty much an automatic win. :p

(Though I did kinda enjoy one reviewer's snark on The Invasion, which was roughly: "If you're gonna do a movie about people becoming soulless automaton's, shouldn't your resistor-hero be a little more emotive than Nicole Kidman?!")

The puppet masters (1993) based on the Heinlein book that the body snatchers ripped off

The faculty (1998) a film in which a character points out that the body snatchers ripped of Heinlein's novel

The 1978 version. I love the original too, but I think it was great that the remake tried something different and set it in San Francisco. In some ways, that was more frightening. I thought the lead characters were better developed as well. And I just love the ending.

^ Me too. I liked the 1978 film best.

(I wonder if there was any point during that film where Nimoy's character was actually human, i.e. not yet a pod person.)

The 78 one is probably still in there haunting my psyche to this day. So I'm gonna count that as a winner

True.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers 1956 and 1978 have always been important films to me as are The Thing 1951 and 1982. :)

^ I adore The Thing from 82. It holds up incredibly well, despite a few eightiosynracies, like that 80's chess game LOL

^ I must confess I would not mind watching Miley Cyrus being dissolved by pod aliens.

And pod-Miley would probably not be as annoying as the regular one.
