What is Vic Fontaine's current status?

I haven't read any of the latest DS9 novels so maybe there's something I'm missing out on, but I'm wondering what has happened to Vic. Is he still 'alive'? Does he have a place on the new DS9 like he did on the old one?

Or does he have a holo-emitter, like the EMH?

I haven't read it , but it sounds like "The Long Mirage" has a lot of Vic in it. Memory Beta has a summary that will catch you up:

Trying to sum up without getting too spoilerific:
Vic's program basically got put on ice during the evacuation of the original DS9 before it got blown to smithereens. Quark stuck it into a device that kept the program running (kind of like what Picard and crew put Moriarty in during "Ship in a Bottle"). However, if I recall correctly, the device got damaged during the escape and they were unable to extract his program from it. The program was still running, but inaccessible. There's a subplot in the recent novels where Nog is trying to get into the program itself, then The Long Mirage has quite a bit of Nog trying to restore the program to its former glory by helping Vic out with some stuff.

My favorite part of the book was the storyarc about Vic Fontaine. I really enjoyed reading that part of the book.
