What is up for you this week?

Tuesday I'm meeting a woman in publishing about my book. No guarantees, but a step in the right direction.
This is something I would love to hear more about. Will it be something for the general public, or something specific for artsy types, Scrabble fanatics, and/or neuropsychologists in training?

It's a children's book I wrote and illustrated, with a science fiction theme, of course! And the meeting went exceptionally well! I got a lot of great advice, encouragement, and input. Most importantly, I got what may be a valuable connection (we're soon to find out). Children's books are incredibly difficult to break into, because they're risky for publishers; compared to a novel they're extremely expensive to print due to the color illustrations, the larger size, etc, so publishers are slow to take a chance on new talent. None of the bigger children's publishers (Scholastic, Random House, etc) accept un-agented submissions, and, in a classic catch 22, the most successful agents don't accept unpublished authors/illustrators. As a result of this meeting, I was sent an email containing a very valuable phrase: (regarding an extremely successful agent) "She'd be delighted to here from you."
Again, there are no guarantees. I sent her an email ... if I might interest you in a manuscript or some sample illustrations...so she hasn't even seen my work yet. Still, I've forged two connections, for the rest, we'll have to wait and see!

I'm glad things are moving for you, even if they are just possibilities!

I'm working on coding five hundred or so responses to a research project. Strangely, I'm enjoying it.

Thanks all! I've been trying to get this book published for a year and a half now -- unfortunately, I've read that a year and a half is nothing when it comes to this industry!

This week, I await results from the mass they took out of my shoulder, go back to get blood work done to check my iron levels (God, I'm old), and if I'm lucky, I will get two days of work. I also have to study up for a new test we're scoring the last two weeks of the month.

Tomorrow, I hope to see Source Code, but then I also have to take my mother-in-law out for our bi-weekly dinner. Eeesh. Then, we have to go out on our weekly grocery store run.

God, I couldn't make my life sound more boring if I tired.

But you could make it hilarious with more MIL anecdotes!

The highlight of my day was a chocolate lindt mini rabbit which I ate half of. What does the future hold..?

THE ANTICIPATION!!!!!

I hope your results are good Auntie.

I feel your pain with the MIL shopping trip. My Dad totally stitched me up with tricking me into taking my Mum for the weekly shop for a while. It was hideous.

I was pondering on telling her I couldn't go shopping as we had given up eating, saying the car had been stolen, in the end I just volunteered for another shift at work. Dad didn't speak to me for a month :mallory:

I'm finally getting new glasses today... once Target Optical opens. ::waits impatiently for 10 o'clock::

And after a bit of excitement over the weekend, I'll be getting used to being 2nd in command at my store, instead of 3rd. :)

^Thanks. I dig the new av. :bolian:

Thanks :)
I 'google imaged' for a fresh one and I'm on there ~ not only my old avatar but the pic of actual me  I'm famous

When on next shopping trip with MIL you could always sneak a handful of condoms in her trolley and see what happens at the till ~ I did it to a friend and hid whilst they went through ~ was most :guffaw:

(Yes I am actually a 13 yr old boy :D)

This week I am on a mission to prove that my boss is an ass.

But how keen in your evilness?

ETA. Just googled imaged K'Ehleyr again (as you do) and now my cat is on there too and my another avater! How did that happen? Creeped out.

The usual working and such. I've been loaned the first couple series of Lie to Me and Doll's House so I'll watch one of those. Replaying Dead Space Extraction and Jedi Academy as well.

I've also got my daughter a couple of week-nights and the week-end, which is always fun. I'll also hopefully chat nightly with a special lady I'm trying to romance in the USA - who knows if that will last, but I'm trying to get her to come to Glasgow for a visit in the summer - fingers crossed!

Going to try to break the chain of eating in and watching a movie on Friday and Saturday and actually get out and maybe even meet some people.

Starting to feel a little stir crazy. I've been in Eugene for three years but don't have any local friends yet. Which isn't surprising considering I've made zero effort in that direction.

Let's see...
Monday--Work, take the little one to karate, laundry awaits at home.
Tuesday--Work, maybe come back to supervise prom decorating, watch NCIS.
Wednesday--Work, take the little one to karate, soup and Evening Prayer at church, choir practice, sleep.
Thursday--Early Jazz, work, take the little one to Spanish, have the little one solo for the night as my wife will be out of town. Maybe rent a Daddy/daughter friendly movie.
Friday--Work, UW Varsity Band Concert (if tix still available), spend the night in Madison.
It's a week. Nuthin' special.
