I have a day of work on Thursday and last night went to a job search meeting. I'll probably do more work on taxes and continue looking for a job, and the Giants Home Opener is Friday which I'm looking forward to.

I can be surprising how much money can be saved fixing things yourself, and it can be quite rewarding. It's usually no where near as difficult as people think, and you can make sure it is fixed good.
For example: Man with a Big Rod isn't necessarily going to clean away all of the fat that's lining the pipe, but may clear enough of a channel to make it drain. But if remnants are left for new fat to stick to, it will be prone to clogging again.

I'm hopeless at DIY ~ that's why I rent
Preventative steps will be taken;
I will re-train Son on use of oil when frying and provide a receptacle for storing used oil ~ they recycle it where I work.
Use 'drain cleaner' for a while to ensure pipes are cleaned out as much as possible.
Purchase a 'sink draining device thingy' to ensure that stuff that shouldn't go down does not go down!
This, of course, after taking advice from the Man with the Big Rod
I'm on a holiday. So it's sleep a lot, drink red wine, catch up with friends and watch Caprica. Quite nice.

Without a shadow of a doubt. Bacon fat is solid at room termperature. Never ever pour it down the sink unless you have a grease trap installed.

Wednesday - day off, car went in the shop, ran errands with Mom, Lions meeting (unlike Maestro's club, our guys did not behave)
Today - playing on new computer this morning, possibly some design work, and then "real job" 1:30-9:30
Friday - working 9:30-5:30 and then dinner with the parents
Hopefully at some point the opticians will call and I can get my new glasses, so I can see...

The Men came out today, disappointingly without a Big Rod, just a 'wet vac'
but it did the job and now my water runneth freely Nick ~ I did re-iterate to Son the importance of not putting fat down the sink, to just wipe out the pan with kitchen roll and dispose. Came home this afternoon to find a watery fat filled pan in the sink

I'm going to school, writing a few papers, and trying to keep up on my exercise. I ordered a few videogames, And if they come soon I'll make some time for that...
The big news is that I built up the courage to express my interest and ask out a certain attractive fellow student for a lunch date. She blushed and said yes. I'm estatic right now. These last few weeks I've really started to get over the end of my previous 3 1/2 year relationship. Not only do I still have what it takes, but I feel excited about someone else for the first time in ages!

It's a children's book I wrote and illustrated, with a science fiction theme, of course! And the meeting went exceptionally well! I got a lot of great advice, encouragement, and input. Most importantly, I got what may be a valuable connection (we're soon to find out). Children's books are incredibly difficult to break into, because they're risky for publishers; compared to a novel they're extremely expensive to print due to the color illustrations, the larger size, etc, so publishers are slow to take a chance on new talent. None of the bigger children's publishers (Scholastic, Random House, etc) accept un-agented submissions, and, in a classic catch 22, the most successful agents don't accept unpublished authors/illustrators. As a result of this meeting, I was sent an email containing a very valuable phrase: (regarding an extremely successful agent) "She'd be delighted to here from you."
Again, there are no guarantees. I sent her an email ... if I might interest you in a manuscript or some sample illustrations...so she hasn't even seen my work yet. Still, I've forged two connections, for the rest, we'll have to wait and see!
Well, I had a biology test wednesday but now that that's over pretty much nothing.
People always ask me "how was your week?" and I draw a blank. No idea. Would take a volcano to register. Or if something really noteworthy did happen it would take so much background explaining as to be not worth mentioning.
