What is the ideal bath towel to person ratio for a household?

I've bumped myself up to three towels in my rotation, and it got me wondering if the was too few, or more than the average? I think I will probably work myself up to four or five towels here shortly.

I love wasting towels. Actually my towel usage creates two loads of laundry a week on average. So I guess I am the wrong person to be posting here at all but I am going to anyway.

I use at least one fresh towel a day sometimes two depending on the number of showers I take. By the end of the week I have usually gone through ten towels, several wash cloths and four or five hand towels. (I go through kitchen towels just as fast.) And at last count I had a total of twenty six bath towels in the linen closet, just in case.

I have about 5 or 6 bath towels on my side of the cabinet. I use each towel more than once so I don't go through those very quickly.

I generally go through at least 5 a week, but between near-daily showers and a rinse and steam after I work out several times a week, it isn't hard to go through more than that.

I truly believe that one can NEVER have enough towels. I often use two towels after washing my hair. You have enough to go through at least a week's worth without doing laundry.

I've taken to using Arsenal FC club merchandise towels now simply because it's utterly impossible for anyone in my house not to realise that they're mine and thus I should not find them soaking wet and dumped on the floor.

We have about 8 nice bath towels the two of us rotate through. And a smaller number of hand towels.

We have about 10 crappy 'dog grade' towels from the dollar store, because we own a water dog and take him outside a lot. It takes 4 towels each time we bathe the beast.

I don't understand the question.

Is this about the number of bath towels used per person, from one washday to the next?
(my answer is 1 or 2. Most English people don't have showers everyday. And there's nothing wrong with letting one towel dry out and using it again.)

Or is it about the number of bath towels used per session?
(my answer is 1. I use a smaller (hand) towel for drying my hair.)

Or is it about the number you like to have in total so that you can rotate through your collection each washday?
(my answer here is 4.)
