Didn't Tom say something along the lines of "soon we won't even notice the explosions in our stomachs?" It was in one of the very first episodes where Janeway walked in on him and Harry having a meal. I think it was the infamous "There's coffee in that nebula" episode.

Well, to be fair, I think that the crew's learnt for awhile to lower their standards since Neelix bacame cook. So, the disappointment can be only rare in these conditions but yes, in last seasons, Neelix seems to have made a lot of efforts to improve in the culinary domain and then, he learnt to make pizzas, so... but he (certainly) will never manage to equal Tuvok's savoir-faire!

That's true. They got used to his cooking and he probably got used to preparing meals for people with a more normal palate. Wasn't the juice/eggs scene in an early season 3 episode a testament to that? Neelix gushes that an ensigh had a second glass and she never has seconds to which Tuvok replies (straight faced too) that the ensign is Bolian and has a special coating in her mouth/tongue that protects her from even the strongest acid. Neelix almost pouts for a second before he urges him to take a sip before judging.

Wait, Neelix learned to make pizza? When? I'm only in season 3 right now (I've watched random episodes but this is my first time actively watching the show in order. I love it!)

He did on Tom's request (or should I say, on his insistence!) but alas, we don't see neither Neelix making it or Tom eating it, sorry.

Tom's reaction would have been enough although I can actually imagine Neelix going overboard (like he has a tendency to do) and flipping the dough over his head in an Italian pizzeria holo-setting.
