What if the Enterprise-D has a female captain instead of Jean-Luc Picard, who retired from Starfleet after the battle of Maxia?
If the Captain was female, it's less likely she would have been bald. Unless she was Deltan. But what are the chances of that happening?
And Gene's reaction to Bob Justman's casting suggestion of Patrick Stewart: "Jesus Christ, Bob! I don't want a Bald man!"I was disappointed that Roddenberry, for all his lip service about sexual equality in his universe, didn't take the opportunity to put a female in the lead as either captain or first officer in TNG.

Yep, that's my answer as well. Then the Enterprise would have a female captain. Beyond that, who can say.
Captain Rachael Garrett (they could pick someone else to be the captain of NCC-1701-C). I thought she had a really great persona. Even better than Captain Janeway.
