What if the Enterprise has a female captain?

Riker would have been more concerned about his bodily hair. Wesley would have gotten wet for non-holodeck reasons upon first meeting the captain...dripping on the floor. Beverly/Picard hints at possible love would have turned into lesbian tension.

Then of course, one classic scene would form:

Angrily the captain marches onto the bridge after having hours of tedious and unproductive diplomatic arguments with the captain of the ship outside. "Mr. Worf fire at that vessel!"

Worf: "I like it when she gets angry, aye captain!" *animalistic grin as he eyes the captain in admiration of a warrior woman*

Riker: *speaking into his hand as he massages his beard* It's that time of month again...

Or in an alternate universe, Jean-Luc Picard was Juliet Picard.

Humor aside, I was disappointed that Roddenberry, for all his lip service about sexual equality in his universe, didn't take the opportunity to put a female in the lead as either captain or first officer in TNG. Of course, we know the reason he put Number One in "The Cage" and why the network didn't want Majel Barret (M. Leigh Hudac) in the role.

If the Captain was female, it's less likely she would have been bald. Unless she was Deltan. But what are the chances of that happening?

And Gene's reaction to Bob Justman's casting suggestion of Patrick Stewart: "Jesus Christ, Bob! I don't want a Bald man!"

A bald Woman, however...

He had a bald man as captain in TOS... so what's the problem? ;)

Captain Rachael Garrett (they could pick someone else to be the captain of NCC-1701-C). I thought she had a really great persona. Even better than Captain Janeway.

^ I loved Captain Garrett. I was so pleased that the first female captain of the Enterprise we see proved to be so great!

I've always thought Garrett was pretty great as well, and wish there'd been more of her somehow.

What if the Enterprise-D has a female captain instead of Jean-Luc Picard, who retired from Starfleet after the battle of Maxia?

What if all the roles had the oposite gender?

Captain: female
1st Officer: female
Data: female android
Worf: female Klingon
Councilor: male
Doctor: male
Doctor's offsping: female

Some sexual tension with Riker?

Seriously, some of the roles might have changed gender. For example, there might not have been a Doctor Crusher (NO!!!!!!!) or Ten-Forward might have had a male bartender. There might have "balancing out" of gender in other areas.

Some years ago, I read that Robert Picardo feared his or a couple of the other male characters on Voyager might have switched to female if they had gone with a male captain after Genevieve Bujold bowed out, thus they would be out of jobs.

Why is this the only pic anyone uses? Not very flattering.

There is an appalling lack of Captain Garrett images online, and images of Tricia O'Neil for that matter.
