What if "the burn" isn't related to Omega or "Force of Nature" but to DS9?

Updated list of things hinting at the Pah Wraiths having a role to play in Season 3 and possibly being the cause of the Burn.

-The dilithium being red in the opening credits.

-The wormhole (also in the opening credits) and the mentioning of the nearest one by Booker, whose face began to glow a bit like Dukat's under their influence, when he used his powers.

-The prophecy in DS9 about a golden age for Bajor lasting for a millennium.

-Dukat talking about the Pah Wraiths *burning* across the alpha quadrant.

-The connection of the Prophets and Pah Wraiths to time and their perception of it, which might be relevant to the outcome of the temporal (cold) war.

-The possible return of Dax

-The bajoranlike looking new combadges.

-Season 2 starting its arc with the first appearance of the Red Angel, while the first episode of Season 3 introduced Booker.

-The name of the cat being Grudge ;)
By the way, i'm not sure if Grudge's supposed to be a real cat or something else...

I doubt that there will be a Pah Wraith tie in, but kudos to you anyways for looking at things to tie in.

I no longer think this has anything to do with "The Omega Directive" (VOY) and never thought it had to do with "Force of Nature" (TNG). I think it's more likely to have to do with the very end of the Temporal War, which never saw in ENT.

Maybe the Hobus hypernova was a point of deviation, different in different timelines, bleeding across the realities. Decalithium and all.

More powerful in some, less in others.

Like the Counter-Clock deal

The Pah-wraiths are not going to be the cause of the Burn. The DSC viewing audience (other than the 1% who are members of this BBS) neither knows about nor cares about the Pah-wraiths. They were just a plot device in DS9, and have nothing whatsoever to do with the story the DSC writers are trying to tell.

If the writing depended on the familiarity of the non trekkie audience with its elements, Bruce Maddox wouldn't have been a part of the plot for the first season of Picard as well as many other smaller details that were mentioned or seen in both shows.

David Ajala about Book's
special abbilities
:

"We will learn more as the season goes on. He definitely does have an ability and there are some significant moments, in really intimate moments… What’s really interesting about Book’s ability and powers is when his forehead glows and a moment occurs, Michael Burnham is always there to witness it."

Seems like it's very important for Season 3...

I really wonder how many clues are needed, until someone finally sees that i might be at least partially right with this

You do realize that the Bruce Maddox in PIC had very little in common with the Bruce Maddox from that one episode of TNG? They shared the same name, but it was like they were two different people.

We should really start a thread where we can vent our anger about this.
The actor from TNG I can't remember his name right now was brilliant

"The Measure of a Man" happened in 2365, while the first season of Picard is set in 2399. People can change in such a long time. Why should it be different with Maddox ;)

Yes, he changed so much that he wasn’t even played by the same actor.

You should be permabanned from the TrekBBS for not remembering the great Brian Brophy. A pox on you!

I was just hoping to leave some bait out the re for a good reply post.

I was only thinking about him on Friday as I was on the Limerick to Brophytown train

This is my opening to say I think Bruce Maddox in Picard looked more like he could've been Harry Mudd's great-grandson instead of Maddox.

How hard would it have been to find an actor who looked more like Brian Brophy even if they couldn't get him back?

Maybe the Pah Wraiths finally got out of the fire caves and their revenge in the 31rst or 32nd century...

Considering the nature of the Prophets and Pah Wraiths relationship to time, it might have happened as a result of the temporal cold war...

Maybe we see Mark Alaimo as Gul Dukat again in Season 3...

Very doubtful. They may name drop and recast and make them look completely different. But the days of 80's/90's,early2k trek are long gone.

A shame. At least Alexander Rozhenko and some rather unknown secondary characters like Kirk and Spock from a show called TOS were always played by the same actors :D
