What if "the burn" isn't related to Omega or "Force of Nature" but to DS9?

Maybe the Pah Wraiths finally got out of the fire caves and their revenge in the 31rst or 32nd century...

Considering the nature of the Prophets and Pah Wraiths relationship to time, it might have happened as a result of the temporal cold war...

Maybe we see Mark Alaimo as Gul Dukat again in Season 3...

I doubt it. According to IMDB, he hasn't done any acting in ten years, with his last role being a voice role. And for the last eleven years before that all his acting was voice acting, with playing Dukat in WYLB the last live action role he had. Besides, at 78 years old, would he even want to spend several hours early in the morning getting Cardassian makeup on?

I myself like Pre-"Waltz" Dukat better.

After he went crazy, I was done with him. The Pah'Wraiths made it even worse. He should've been called Dukat-Ra after that. "Ancient Spirits of Evil, transform this decayed form to Dukat-Ra the Ever Living! Hahahahaha!!!!!!!"

Since Sisko and Dukat were turned into prophet and pah wraith beings respectively seemingly, I think these roles would be very easy to recast.

As for the complaint that all the DS9 mythology would be new to viewers and the Discovery crew--anything is going to be new to them. The show took a jump 1,000 years into the future. At least the DS9 mythology won't be new to viewers, just the characters.

I say bring in Black Panther's Winston Duke as the new Sisko. He already played Avery's role of Hawk in the Spenser reboot. ;) And give Doug Jones a dual role as the new Dukat. He already has the similar neck muscle thing. :P

I’m sure the origin of the Burn will be something completely new.

This is the same show where the first season captain's backstory relied entirely on a few episodes from past series that not everyone saw.

I mean, did we need another thread? This could easily be discussed in the main "the Burn' thread.

I agree in full, with Waltz being the last great Dukat episode.
Which would still mean Marc Alaimo would not be returning which was the point I was making.

Yes, but let’s discuss and speculate endlessly about what “The Burn” is.

The Burn is something I got one time when I went to the beach and stayed outside all day.

    Nothing like peeling skin afterwards.

Right! The show will explain what it is and people will still be speculating.

“No, no, that’s all misdirection. It’s really something the Vorgons constructed in a 27th century war against the Ferengi Alliance!”

    You’re comparing TOS with Voyager?

The whole Mirror arc of Discovery was a direct reference to Enterprise, not TOS (as 'Mirror Mirror' hadn't even happened yet in the timeline). Remember, Discovery seasons 1-2 is a prequel to TOS, so any "references" to TOS would be indirect and foreshadowing at best.

But everything that happened in ENT as far as the Mirror universe went was tied to the original series episodes ‘Mirror Mirror’ and ‘The Tholian Web.’ None of it was original to ENT.

And the Picard show is connected to one of the worst, if not the worst Trek film that many people didn't see, and people have no trouble understanding the Romulan situation there. So even if obscure DS9 or Voyager references are involved in the Burn, it will be adequately re-explained for newcomers. So the point remains that any of these theories from past shows are fair game.
