What if "the burn" isn't related to Omega or "Force of Nature" but to DS9?

And the Picard show is connected to one of the worst, if not the worst Trek film that many people didn't see, and people have no trouble understanding the Romulan situation there.

The only thing about Nemesis that connects it to PIC is Data being dead. Everything else is connected to the most successful Trek film ever, Star Trek ‘09.

Good point, for some reason I mixed them up. Must be getting late.

Actually, it's more connected to "Best of Both Worlds" and ST:Voy in general - we never even encountered a queen in ST: P (Although yes, 7 of 9 - who was in nether BoBW or ST:FC became one for 5 minutes.) There's really no element of ST:FC in ST: P.

Picard follows up on all kinds of plot threads from TNG and VOY.

But I also like how they reverse-engineered the Destruction of Romulus and added a lot more to it. It's like the 2009 Film was the "TNG Movie" Version of what happened and PIC was the "DS9" Version of what happened.

My point is that I seriously doubt that something from one forgettable VOY episode will be the reason behind the Burn. I’m sure the writers have come up with their own reason.

New to Star Trek fandom, eh? ;)
No - I *sigh* posted that in the impossible hope that folks might move on once the plot point is finally revealed. But, I know better, I guess. Was just feeling hopeful today. I even bought 2 scratch tickets.

I remember predicting on here that "Series V" (yes, this goes way back) would take place in the 25th Century on the Enterprise-H, they'd have an Alien Captain, and they'd stretch out beyond the Milky Way.

So anyway... yeah. :alienblush:

I was so sure it wasn't going to be a prequel that when it was finally announced, Temis opened up a new thread, and in the first post she started with, "Lord Gaaaarth.... ":whistle::whistle:

I like to think I've upped my game since then. ;)

I hope they reveal it earlier and don't drag it out like Spock and who the angel is last season
It would be very strange if, in-universe, everyone was being overly vague to the point of absurdity about what the Burn was. It would be like all the old Star Wars novels and comics before 2002 where seemingly all the characters couldn't remember what the Clone Wars actually were and just made vague references to how they really damaged the galaxy.

I myself like Pre-"Waltz" Dukat better.

After he went crazy, I was done with him. The Pah'Wraiths made it even worse. He should've been called Dukat-Ra after that. "Ancient Spirits of Evil, transform this decayed form to Dukat-Ra the Ever Living! Hahahahaha!!!!!!!"

Agreed, except that his last meeting with Damar was good. The last time he was actually still a Cardassian, I guess.

Updated list of things hinting at the Pah Wraiths having a role to play in Season 3 and possibly being the cause of the Burn.

-The dilithium being red in the opening credits.

-The wormhole (also in the opening credits) and the mentioning of the nearest one by Booker, whose face began to glow a bit like Dukat's under their influence, when he used his powers.

-The prophecy in DS9 about a golden age for Bajor lasting for a millennium.

-Dukat talking about the Pah Wraiths *burning* across the alpha quadrant.

-The connection of the Prophets and Pah Wraiths to time and their perception of it, which might be relevant to the outcome of the temporal (cold) war.

-The possible return of Dax

-The bajoranlike looking new combadges.

-Season 2 starting its arc with the first appearance of the Red Angel, while the first episode of Season 3 introduced Booker.

-The name of the cat being Grudge ;)
By the way, i'm not sure if Grudge's supposed to be a real cat or something else...

The Pah-wraiths are not going to be the cause of the Burn. The DSC viewing audience (other than the 1% who are members of this BBS) neither knows about nor cares about the Pah-wraiths. They were just a plot device in DS9, and have nothing whatsoever to do with the story the DSC writers are trying to tell.
