What If Number One Is The New Captain?

What if she was the new Discovery captain? I was thinking this after seeing the beautifully redone Enterprise. (FAR, FAR, FAR better than the Abrams movie version.)

It would be a good way to fill in some gaps from those unknown years between the two STAR TREK pilots, and Number One's character was interesting in the first pilot. A shame we never saw or heard of her again.

When she realized she felt something for Mr. Spock, she had to change her name and bleach her hair to preserve her reputation as an emotionless robot. Hoping to "examine" him more closely, she took a job as a nurse.

This is where I can't resist pointing out that, true, we never saw or heard of her again onscreen, but she's made numerous appearances in the books, comics, etc.

I don't think it would be a good idea. Her defining feature was that she was a human with calculating Vulcan-like mind. And that kinda is Burnham's thing too (though she's failing at it a lot.) I don't think it would work to have two characters so similar.
