Ever since I started reading this thread, I've had a bizarre idea running around in my mind. If they wanted to fire Garrett Wang and add a sexy woman to the cast, they could have hired a sexy Asian actress, found a way to turn Harry into a female, and renamed the character Harriet.

All it would have taken would be for Harry to be assimilated, and some technobabbly reason why the Doctor couldn't unassimilate him in his original anatomical form...


But then we wouldn't have had the wonderful Jeri Ryan/Seven of Nine, so it's best that nobody thought of that.

I thought of a simpler way to do it, but it would be a repeat of another situation: Just have a transporter accident combine Harry and Seven. The result: Harriet Hansen.

(but I'd rather have them as their separate characters. I like Harry.)

SEE that's why I don't like to focus on Harry's hotness.. because I like this forum to be a friendly place and since I hang out here kinda primarily I feel I have some responsibility towards that. And of course the last thing I want is for people to feel threatened by Harry's hotness whether they be men who are less hot or women who are thinking hopefully that the other women won't be looking at Harry because the VOY women are better (which I won't argue.. but I don't personally think it detracts from Harry's hotness.. but I'm very open minded).

No, we could have still had Seven, but all that we have to do is get rid of Harry, and that would be it.

A great way to do this without killing him would be an episode in which a wormhole is found, and Harry is the only one to be able to get back at the end due to the wormhole collapsing just as Voyager is about to enter it. Harry gets back, and the next episode is about him adjusting to life back in the Alpha Quadrant, and him finding a way (due to all of the knowledge he's picked up) to establish a communications link with Voyager by aiding some Starfleet scientists. Eventually, a communications link is established, and Voyager talks back to Earth regularly (or as conditions permit owning to the limitations of the method used.) We would also see Harry get back with Libby, continue his career with Starfleet as a warp field specialist planetside-Garrett Wang would be a 'Special Guest Star' used a few episodes a season as needed. Of course, the public would freak out at this happening to Wang, but such is life.

As for Kes, she would be kept on as a crewemember, and she would further her education under the Doctor, as well as help Seven of Nine adjust to being a human being post-Borg, with the two of them carrying on said relationship into a love affair-Star Trek's first genuine onscreen queer relationship.
