what happened to the borg baby?

...of the episode "collective"? the last scene were the cute critter was seen was in janeway's arms, who was visibly moved. i like all the voyager kid episodes, 'collective', and 'haunting of deck 12' in particular. the other star trek shows never tried any, haven't they? well, there is 'rascals' of tng, but this nonsense doesn't count.
pity that mezati left the ship, that sharp girl would have made a good addition.

I think the writers forgot her. But maybe she died, or was returned to her people, or went with Mezoti and the twins to live with the Wysanti? She was cute.

And I agree, I liked Mezoti, she had spunk. "Snacks are irrelevant! Continue the story!" :borg::lol:

Agreed, the writers simply forgot about her. Though I do find it hard to believe that even the Voyager production staff, as scatter-brained as they were, created this character and then forgot about her all within ONE EPISODE! :brickwall:

I've seen several fanfic stories where somebody among the crew adopted the baby.

But yeah, it took me several viewings of that episode to be convinced that I hadn't simply lost my attention span at the crucial moment when it was explained what happened to the baby.

I think the popular theory is Neelix used it in some kind of leeola root casserole.

I've seen many versions of that theory and the idea it's why Neelix jumps ship before Tuvok can conclude his investigation of what happened to the kid.

I can believe it. After all, despite the big reunion scene at the end of Once Upon a Time, I'm pretty sure the writers forgot they didn't kill Samantha Wildman off in that episode. After that, Seven and Neelix seem to be raising Naomi and I don't think we ever saw Samantha again!

I think Naomi did mention her mother in several of her appearences with Neelix and Seven.

In the present tense?

Yep.

I also recall in "Dark Frontier", Niomi running to Seven scared and Seven's reply being: "Where is your Mother?"

As for the Borg Baby, if it's still a baby it was recently assimilated. So I always assumed it was taken from a near by system and they just took it home inbetween episodes.

Wasn't the bit in DF a dream sequence, though?

I don't think it matters, she still asked the question about where her mother was impling she's alive. Niomi also mentions her mother in "Bliss", still impling she's alive and well but just always on duty.

It was still a baby so they couldn't keep it with the other children. I like to think it remained in sickbay or a crewmember (perhaps Neelix) looked after it until they located its parents.

I think the popular theory is Neelix used it in some kind of leeola root casserole.

Ah, you did beat me to that one! :rommie:

My personal theory is that the Borg Baby ended up as:

(Here comes a drum roll!)

A valuable member of The Torpedo and Shuttle Building Team! :techman:

As we all know, Voyager wasted more shuttles and torpedoes than acceptable so when they were running out of those, Janeway assembled a group of skilled crewmembers who were given the orders to build as many new shuttles and torpedoes as possible. Lt Carey was the officer in command for this unit which included Dalby, Gerron, Henley, Chell and Rollins. Later on Vorik and Samantha Wildman were added to the crew and so was also the Borg Baby whose small hands and size was perfect for some more delicate technical work.

I think they did an "Equinox" and plugged into a shuttle warp core as a power source.

The new moto is:
Baby Borg, it's the only way to fly!!!

We saw Samantha once more, in "Relativity." However, all of her scenes were in the "past" portions of that time travel episode.

I personally think it would have been a great idea to have Samantha Wildman be the character that was killed off in the episode "Friendship One" instead of Joe Carey. The whole point of killing off a character in that episode was for it to be one we, as the audience, were familiar with and not another nameless red shirt. Carey only appeared in three episodes after Season One, including this one. The audience was much more familiar with Samantha Wildman. Also, with her officially out of the picture, it would be most natural for Neelix to become Naomi's guadian. Given that Neelix left the ship a few episodes later, the next logical choice for a guardian would have been Naomi's best friend, Seven. It certainly would have done a lot to develop Seven's character if she suddenly found herself needing to be a full-time mother. A lot more so than that romance-out-of-nowhere with Chakotay. :brickwall:

Now this is an EXCELLENT idea! :bolian: It would have provided much greater scope for character development and drama, not only onboard the ship, but after they returned to the Alpha Quadrant. After all, who would Naomi want to live with - her friend/older sister-figure/teacher, Seven... or the father she never met?

A more accurate question: who would Naomi want to live with - her friend/older sister-figure/teacher, Seven... or...........Neelix? ;)
