What happened to Iron Man 2?

This is the part I'm still having trouble with...

Rhodey wears the Mk. 2 silver suit without modification during the party fight... So how was he powering it?

Rhodey doesn't have an ARC reactor in his chest like Tony does, so how did he power the suit?

I really wish they'd explained that.

Tony built it so it had its own. Remember the scene afterwards when Rhodes and the other USAF guy are in the hanger, he takes out an arc reactor from the chest of the armor. I'm thinking Tony probably built a Mark 2 reactor and put it into the Mark2 suit - I mean the man recreated the Mark 1 which was trashed after its first use and then trashed again by Iron Monger - and even that had a glowy arc reactor in its chest too.

Honestly I think any of the suits could be used without having the arc embedded in the wearer's chest.

And Rhodey hid the M2's reactor before Hammer came. Again I think this was all part of dying Tony's plan to turn all the Iron Man tech over to Rhodes when he died, so he made everything essentially useful without having to actually surgically embed an arc reactor. Although... it could have been JUST that Mark 2 suit that could be powered by its own arc reactor since after all the Mark 2 is/was his original prototype/proof of concept suit.

Even Tony's own arc reactor changed considerably from the first movie to the second, with being able to pop out and use a replaceable palladium core.

Of course I think Tony forgave Rhodey a bit too quickly, but... he did help save his life again and well got the USAF off his ass for not giving them an Iron Man. I could see in IM3 that Rhodes will be the "U.S. War Machine" as Rhodes IS a colonel and probably the only one really qualified to deal with military threats. Leaving Tony to deal with super powered nutjobs in armor and powers.

But Senator Stern got what he wanted. What's to keep the government from mass-producing the War Machine suit?

Well that sets up IM3 to be "Armor Wars" where Tony goes around slagging all tech based on his tech. Or maybe Avengers will state that somehow only 'Avengers-authorized' users can use the suits. And that'll be like Tony, Jimmy and heh Pepper... love to see Gwen Paltrow in a suit and screaming her head off

Bad PR and the worry that a villian will take over the suit by remote control, again.

One man, one suit seems like the way to go now that Justin Hammer and Whiplash helped cause so much damage with their drones & controlled War Machine.

I think we brought up Pepper's Rescue armor in the Iron Man 2 thread...because Gwenyth said she'd like to see Pepper do some ass kicking herself.

It's still pretty cool that a concept that's still fairly new even to the comics - ie: Pepper as Rescue - is being considered for the movie. I mean she's only really had that armor for less than a year's worth of comics.

Yeah I like the MK2 Rescue armor waaaay better than the original. i never liked those ports on the back.

Honestly its about damn time Pepper got some armor. I mean sure she's been 'the secretary' for a while, but it seems like half of Tony's girlfriends wound up with some gear from him or fought side by side with him at some point. Beth Cabe his girl from the 80s even wore a suit once and then became his Chief of Security. Black Widow -side by side fighter. Rumiko... well she never really fought side by side with him so she's the exception and she's dead. Maria Hill - more like a FWB - still works side by side with him using some stark gear I'm sure.

I just hope they don't make the movie rescue armor high heeled! LOL
