What games do you no longer play?

What games in the past did you play a lot but no longer play for whatever reason? Can be anything online, solo games, group games.

Not a fan of f2p online games but I did dabble with Defiance and Skyforge when they were brand new and there was excitement about them, but that was a long time ago and the servers for them now are all gone. I miss those days of very early AM group meetings for Defiance and play sessions till almost sunrise my time, but that was lmited to weekends most of the time, but still it was the best fun at the time. Same really for Skyforge when I first found it, there were bigger groups of people and it was a fun game that could be played both solo and in a group but I'm not sure what happened with that one, it just died off slowly for me. I remember one Christmas event and the game landscape being done up for Christmas but I think after that the desire to play just wasn't there. Also at that time I think the Defiance servers were starting to shut down.

For me, it's probably first person shooters. Back in the early days, played a lot of them (though not often multiplayer - I was never a big online gamer).
Before that, flight sims.

I don't play as much at all anymore, though I lean RPGish nowadays, whether action or not.

Haha I used to do shooters and all and games like Far Cry 3. But tried to play that one again now and it just doesn't interest me anymore, neither does playing online with other people. Games like The Talos Principle 1 and 2 are reasonably fun and still engage me when the mood strikes.

In the other thread where I asked what is your comfort game for me it's more immersive things like Zero Dawn and Forbidden West where there is a big story and it plays out like a big story. I still love both of them despite having completed them multiple times.

Oddly out of pattern though I picked up Dead Island 2 the sequel to Dead Island which I did play when it was brand new on a sale so it was a cheapie. I actually don't mind this one and have sunk a few hours into it so am gradually going through just the main story and not worrying about online content. Oddly I don't like the Resident Evil series as it just doesn't grab me, the movies were the only thing from that universe I own.

Same here. I just don't have the reflexes for them anymore. I'll play some of them, but only if they're truly special. The only exception to that would be the immersive sims (hate that term as it's too vague) such as the Dishonored games and, the Deus Ex games, and the Prey reboot, and the first-person RPGs such as the Fallouts and Outer Worlds, as they are slower-paced and more about exploration.

Star Trek Online, the Call of Duty series, Gaia Online's MMORPG called "zOMG", Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Battlefield 4, Skyrim.

Elder Scrolls Skyrim looked fantastic, but became too repetitive and boring. It became more fun to become a vampire (via a DLC) and then find ways to rule the towns*, at which point the game got even more boring. It's been a few years now, and I've had no desire to return to it. There was one other game, online, which I did only for my then-future-ex, which I've not returned to... "World of Warcraft"?

Meanwhile, the original "The Legend of Zelda" (1986, NES), "Space Invaders" (1982, Atari 5200), "Unreal Tournament" (1998, PC), "Tetris" (1986, NES), and "Ms Pac Man" (with speed mod, Atari 5200) remain as fresh as ever.

* moohahahahaha!

I swore off Eve Online and this time i have stuck to it. It's too time consuming and starts to become a job.
I return to older Civilization games but 5 is one that doesn't interest me anymore for some reason.
I gave up on LOTRO at some point, too.

Mostly the old DOS stuff, although I run Dune II now and then with Dosbox on my Linux Mint machine.

Ultimately I had a lot more fun playing as a werewolf.

I think my moment of complete disenchantment with playing as a vampire came when I was in this mine in Vampire Lord form and a guy one-shotted me with a long distance arrow. He wasn't even in the room I was standing in at the time. Nor was he in the adjacent corridor. He was in the room at the other end of that corridor. He fired through like three rooms and killed me in one hit!

Also the Vampire Lord form was ridiculous because it was too big to fit into a lot of entrances.

I've spent the last couple of months trying to learn Civ III. I have yet to win a game.

I prefer Civ II: Test of Time. I miss the 3-dimensional aspect of this game, not to mention the vibrant colors. Civ III is just really drab.

Years ago like early 2000s I spent a lot of time playing this free online game called "Graal Online" which was effectively a clone of SNES-era Legend of Zelda but made into multi-player. It was a real blast and lots of people were always online, so you could do quests together, PvP battles, etc. There were several servers you could connect to, I think some of them run by players of the game instead of the company, and some of them featured different equipment and game mechanics to make things more interesting. Some even let you upload your own custom graphics for your character sprite. So I made a Klingon :klingon: with some explanation that it was a fantasy race, so as to sidestep any rules related to trademarks or whatever.

Anyway, at some point there was a big shakeup with paid subscriptions being required, and the free server/version being very, very limited. I think they walked back on that at some point, but I don't think the game was ever the same. One or two times over the years I've decided to try it out again, but I just couldn't get into it like in the old days.

All that being said, I might give it another try soon. I still have an account, but I think the servers I used to play on, and where I had built my character up a good deal, longer exist. So I would have to start from scratch.

I used to play a lot of online fps games like Team Fortress Classic. Now I'm a single player gamer and the occasional co op gamer with my roommates

For now, for me - it's modern games :D . I know my desktop is the more powerful out of the pc's I use at home, but just out of curiosity looked up the release date for the processor - 2012. On the other hand, the graphics card is only 10 years old.

Still, they've served me well and I can continue to play most of the games I want to, but there is a list I want to upgrade for
