What games are you playing currently?

A Plague Tale: Innocence. Only started playing last week but am on the home stretch. Really impressive game and a great little story - perfect change of pace after finishing Witcher 3. Already got my hands on a 2nd hand copy of the sequel, Requiem.

I absolutely love both Plague Tale games.

I just finished a *Fallout 3* campaign I'd been putting off for literally years due to not wanting it to end. I'm now debating whether to continue being a loot maximalist, as there is some gear of which I don't have full perfect sets, or moving on to Fallout: New Vegas... after I start and finish all of the DLCs.

New Vegas is sooooo much better than Fallout 3 and I think Fallout 3 is better than it's given credit for. NV is my favorite Fallout without question and one of my top 10 favorite games of all time. TBH, New Vegas is the very reason that Bethesda started getting a lot of hate from fans. Obsidian was behind it and Obsidian has ridden it ever since. I bought Outer Worlds based on the hype that it was like New Vegas (I was disappointed) but my point is that more than a decade later they were still using New Vegas to sell themselves. Also, Rene Auberjonois voices Mr. House in that game!

Now with all that being said, if you love FO3 there's no shame in stretching out the experience and even adding mods to it (there's some great mods for both 3 and NV). I will say that Fallout 3 feels like a heavier game in some ways. It's serious and there isn't as much to take your mind off the fact that the world as we knew it has ended and now it's all about survival. New Vegas has a lot of personality and you deal with different factions. It's different from your standard Fallout because what happened with New Vegas is different from what happened in the rest of the World. The DLC with New Vegas is simply amazing - you will love it.

Damn, now I wanna play FO3 and FNV for the billionth time. lol.

As for the games I'm currently playing... After finishing Jedi Survivor... I found myself a bit lost for a game. I started streaming Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection since it's free with the sub and wound up downloading it. So I played AC2, AC Brotherhood, and now I'm on AC Revelations. If Ubisoft wants to answer where it all went wrong, all they need do is watch the cut scenes for these games. There's an actual story going on with a protagonist you like and you're an Assassin. There's the idea that the work you're doing is important beyond petty grievances - although it's not as fleshed out as it could be. There's still too much grindy stuff (so Ubi has always been prone to that - quests that aren't even quests) but overall these are fun games and they would've been especially fun when they came out (on par with how awesome the lightsaber play feels in Jedi Survivor).

I hope they course correct with Mirage. I didn't hate Valhalla but it wasn't much of an AC game at all. Mirage though has a the potential to be their version of Resident Evil 7 (the game that put that series back on track after years of wtf games). But if it's at least on par with Origins, I'll still play it.

Once I finish up with Revelations... I'm starting back on Nioh. (I played through the tutorial and first level but wanted to finish the Ezio Collection). But ESO's new chapter goes live on the 5th so maybe not...

Try Black Flag. I haven't played them all but Black Flag was awesome. Odyssey was just too big and got boring - i have invested nearly 50 hours and still had maybe only 50% done of what could/should be done within the game.

I would love for them to explore Asia, specifically Japan. I would love to play an ultra Assassin Ninja even if the genre has been done to death.

Ironically, I've put my FO3 campaign on hold and picked up my old X-Com: Enemy Within campign. I've got a nice corps, and I've even color-coded their battle armor by class.

It's the little things that make me happy.

I will def. give Black Flag a try then. I haven't played them all either but I did finish Odyssey. It was my first full AC game and I was enamored with being able to see Ancient Greece so alive. For me, that was a real thrill because so much of my academic work revolved around ancient Greece. Did you play male or female? I only ask because I think Kassandra is better voice acted than Alexios (at least in English) and sometimes voice actors can really influence a game's enjoyment. If you played in German it might be the other way around IDK.

But I agree that Odyssey can get boring. It's chocked full of stuff that is utterly pointless or designed solely with selling helix credits in mind.

And I completely agree with you on Asia! That would be amazing and I honestly don't care if the ultra Assassin Ninja has been done to death. When done with care, those games are a blast and it's been a while since a good fun Ninja game came out. Nioh, Wo Long, and Sekiro are somewhat that (your powerful ninja or samurai against all odds with Wo Long being the Chinese version) but they're all on the high end of the difficulty curve and while I play games like that too it would be nice to have something that was more like Jedi Survivor where you have souls like elements but if you don't want that kind of challenge you can drop down the difficulty level and just have fun and play the story. And tbh, Jedi Survivor on Grand Master is more difficult than Souls games. But just a straight up action-adventure Ninja Assassin game would be an absolute blast.

I have never played X-COM but I played Midnight Suns which I enjoyed even though I wasn't too sure if I would enjoy turn based style combat. I think it's by the same company and it has a ton of XCOM references in it. Like Captain Marvel is trying to load up XCOM (or something similar).

Odyssey did look great and i also love that period of history, which is why i played but at some point i lost interest and never picked it up again. I played the male version and it was good enough.

Have fun with Black Flag.

@FPAlpha so I played a little of Black Flag last night and so far it looks like a ton of fun. I had played a little bit of Rogue on PC a while ago and never could get into it (I think Rogue was trying to do what fans liked in Black Flag but I never could get into that game). It surprised me how good Black Flag still looks given it's age. After finishing up the Ezio Collection, I have to say Revelations may be the most underrated and under appreciated game in the entire series. I wish they had kept the bombs and the hook blade - the combat in that game is my favorite in the series so far and I would love to see it on a more modern engine - maybe Mirage will have something interesting along those lines.

I'm guessing that when Revelations was released the idea of an older character as the main player character was still newish ground and that some people didn't like seeing Ezio as a middle aged man. We take for granted that now you see the Drake Brothers from the Uncharted Series, Arthur and Dutch etc. in Red Dead Redemption or two of the main characters in GTA V and they're middle aged adults. Games have grown up with our generation. Playing a 50 year old Ezio when I'm in my 40s feels pretty good. It's relatable. But I'm not sure how many player characters were even in their 30s when that game released and maybe that's why it doesn't get the credit it deserves (I def. don't think it's the weak link in the trilogy. I think all three games are fun and I really enjoyed getting to play one character and experience them at different phases in their life). Edward Kelly feels like a character that I want to see more of. I don't know if they wrap up his story in one game though.

Sorry for the tangent there. All this was meant to say I like what I've experienced in Black Flag so far and I thank you again for the recommendation! :D

All good - i'n no hardcore AC fan so these titles and settings blur together for me. I had the one that was set in French Revolution Paris but only played so far to take a dive off Notre Dame  I like the game play in most of them even if later games introduced too many mechanics and side stuff for me that made the game into a grind - i just don't have the patience to invest 50+ hours into a game and barely get the main story done.

Glad you enjoy Black Flag - wait until you have far more fun doing sea battles than "assassining" everybody else ;)

Revelations was good, but Syndicate is HANDS DOWN the most underrated and underappreciated AC game (IMO). Coming off the shit show that was Unity, a lot of people skipped it. It has Evie Frye, one of my favorite Assassins, an interesting setting in late 1800s London, and cool gadgets that make you feel like Batman. Plus, a score that ranks in the top 3 for AC scores. Especially the fight theme.

Rumor is that one of the many AC games they're developing is one set in Feudal Japan. I hope it won't end up getting cancelled, as I agree, I think it would be an awesome setting. Apparently we'll be able to play either as Samurai or Shinobi.
