Oh yeah, before I started Jedi Survivor, I played through What Remains of Edith Finch. Interesting (if weird) game.
Yeah it's a cool game and in the same universe as The Unfinished Swan
I have played that game sooooo many times. Skyrim, TW3, Fallout NV, and Red Dead Redemption are all games that I've sunk a ridiculous amount of time into.
As for the Witcher 3... CDProjekt Red made the same game 3 times. If you play the first two you'll see what I mean - the plotlines are different but the same and they honestly feel like rough drafts for the TW3 even though they're good games in their own right. The Wild Hunt is definitely an example of 3rd time's the charm. -- they went from the level of good to masterpiece.
Right now, I'm on Jedi Survivor NG+ but because the game relied so heavily on platforming and making getting from point A to point B a puzzle to extend it's length, it's going incredibly fast on the second playthrough. It also doesn't help that they shut down the side quests and mini bosses (if you beat them in the original playthrough they're closed off - which I can understand the reasoning for certain types of players but it would've been nice to try them again on a higher difficulty level in NG+ - Also wish there was NG+ loot because not looting along the way just doesn't feel right). It's still a great game but I'm going to have to find a new game sooner than I wanted to.
If anyone has suggestions for a new game (I'm on both PC and PS5) I'm all ears.
Interesting. My partner is keen to get the remake of the original when it comes out. Also keen to get the books.
Finished Blood and Wine last night. It's over.
What a wonderful ending with Geralt chilling with Regis, with the familiar chords from the beginning of the game playing in the background. The forth wall break with Geralt turning to the camera with a slight smile caught me by surprise and was unexpectedly touching.
Huh, that's not something I saw in them at all. I find them completely different. Actually if anything, the first game has more open-ended exploration in it than the second, which feels more linear with branching paths. The first game is definitely very rough and clunky though, which is why a remake makes sense.
Mechanics wise they're very different. Story wise they're very similar. The male child is somewhat of a forerunner to Ciri, imo. I was disappointed that TW3 didn't include anything of the Scoiatel other than a random group you can encounter but with the Wild Hunt being elven they might've thought that would muddy the waters too much for people new to the series or who hadn't read the books.
Well, there's a reason they didn't include Ciri. I think it's because while technically under license, CDPR couldn't really use much from the books at this point, so they went the route of a prequel that was somewhat disassociated with the books. Sapowski considers the games completely their own thing. The journal does make mention of Ciri at several points though. But it makes me wonder if the remake would replace the child with a young Ciri.
Found two games on gamepass just by chance, Ravenlok and Immortals Fenyx rising, Ravenlok was great and reminded me very much of Alice lives, and Immortals FR is like a Zelda BOTW clone but set in Greek mythology, which gives it a great story.
Currently finishing up a 100% playthrough of Celeste. Just picked up a cool looking indie Metroidvania on Steam called Aggelos that I plan to played around with next.
I really enjoyed Immortals. The story and dialogue were funny and the combat and puzzles were enjoyable (if a bit repetitive)
^^It's so good i am looking at grabbing the gold edition, from a different cheaper country though as at present it is £80 for the gold edition here in the Uk, whereas the Argentina store has it for £12. lol

It would make a lot of sense to do that. As for Sapowski, the Poles I have spoken with say that he’s better off ignored. I think he has a contentious personality in general and he signed over the rights for basically nothing. He claims that the games had nothing whatsoever to do with his fame and he’s been pretty insulting of the games and gaming in general. I don’t know if he’s bitter that he didn’t get much for the games or if his default setting is curmudgeon. I kinda think curmudgeon is just him.
TBH, I think CDPR did a fantastic job of putting his stories into a single cohesive narrative. It took three tries to get there but they got it. The Netflix show has struggled from the start with the same issue (forging something out of short stories and novellas that don’t always make sense or align with one another).
Yeah it is a really good game, a little sleeper hit that went right over my head and down the back of the sofa, where it would have stayed if it were not for GP. ha

There was a fairly contentious legal battle between CDPR and Sapowski several years ago over the rights and royalties. Personally, I think what happened was he probably signed off on them thinking it wouldn't get very far. When the first Witcher game was released, I think it was still fairly niche, and I think it was still an obscure property. By the time Witcher 3 came along, nearly everyone was playing it. FWIW, I think the games, especially the 3rd one, brought him more exposure, and in turn, I don't think the Netflix series would have happened without them, and I think that's why he's more than a little miffed that he let them have the rights for practically nothing. At the same time, I think he should be thankful for the increase in exposure it brought him.Similar threads
