I was left very unimpressed and underwhelmed with the first episode I've not bothered with any of the others and from what I've skimmed from the boards here I'm kinda glad I have or else I'd be ranting far more.

Why do the Disco haters want to hate? It will not ruin the previous Trek that you like and prefer to watch just by existing.

I notice there are a lot of DS9 fans here and given the darkness and static feel of Discovery and war theme, it kind of makes sense they might look to Discovery for some more of that.

DS9 was static?

For that matter, the darkness is much closer to JJTrek than Ds9.

I'd say TOS and Voyager are my favorites. Discovery is quite different but I'm enjoying it as well.

1. People get a kick out of being negative on the internet. Conflict via keyboard is fun for them, because they generally don't have any way to vent real-life frustrations.
2. If they don't like Discovery...they are motivated for it to fail...and spreading vomit all over the internet about something is perceived as a way to make it fail.
3. They believe, somewhat irrationally, that there might actually be writers and showrunners reading their rants, and that these people will view their comments as "customer feedback" and alter the course / theme / tone of the series accordingly.
4. They somehow think that continuing to watch something they don't like and then bashing it online is a great way to deal with disappointment.

If I don't like something...I generally leave it alone.
