what ever happened to of gods and men?

FleetLord, is there a reason for limiting this to streaming only? And I don't want to here how great this streaming site has been for NV. I want to show this to my dad, but I will most likely have to do it in a house with a dialup connection. In order to have any shot at this I need to be able to download the episode first and then bring my laptop over. Why won't you provide a download option? Torrent, http, ftp, I don't care what method you use, just let us download it.

Well the producer's concerns mirror that of NV's concerns of pirating and selling ileagal dvd's. We accually were going to have a download and track solution a while back then I notice how well Dragonfly was handling NV and we negotiated with them to be the primary distributer. That being said I, myself so feel that we should also have a download solution also as a secondary source and will be looking into that also. The main thing is how to do it best to deter piracy and also prevent getting the distribution so out of control we lose the abilty to track it. There are solutions its just a matter of which one to implement and have everyone agree on it.

@AJBryant, glad you liked the trailer, The teaser acually has the better updated VFX where as the trailer more or less showcases the acting.

I'm a little confused about how a free product can be "pirated." If someone wants to burn it to a DVD and sell that DVD, how is that hurting the OGAM folks? Is it because the DVD sales might arouse the ire of Paramount's legal department, which has decreed that no one make any money from fan films?

I'm not condoning any pirating, I'm just genuinely curious as to why the producers care enough about the issue to let it affect the distribution method of the film. It's not like there would be any lost revenue - under the fanfilm rules, they're not allowed to earn a penny in revenue any way.

For some big threads on that please visit the New voyages forum as they are doing the same thing.

Liked it? I sat there giggling like a lunatic fanboy (something I haven't done since I *was* a lunatic fanboy at the Star Trek Con in NYC in 1874!) while I was watching it.

As I said before, in the OGAM-forum, in my opinion the danger of people actually selling illegal DVDs (yes, I am talking dealers at conventions or similar folks) is much higher when it's only distributed by streaming.
If everybody can download it freely, nobody will be stupid enough to actually pay for it, hence there would be no profit in selling them.
If people cannot watch it at their leisure (e.g. slow connection...) or can't watch it at all (again: connection), then they will be willing to pay for it, there will be a market for it, and it will be profitable to find a way to burn it to a DVD. There is always one person that will figure out a way to save a copy to their computer and burn it to an illegal DVD. And this person will then serve those that can't get it through streaming.

OTOH, I do understand why it has to be streaming - supposdely gives you a more accurate number of how many people watch it - the multiplication factor is eliminated that way (one person downloading it, sharing the free product with 3 friends or 10 or maybe 15 for free). Of course it also discourages a high number of people that know they won't be able to watch it over streaming, but would be able to download it via a torrent. So numbers will be inaccurate either way.

Love the avatar, doubleohfive - but has Sam agreed to take the Vice Presidency? Or is this going to be one of those Mirror-Universe promotion dealies?

I'll ask him on Monday. Until then, you guys have my vote! :bolian:

Quick question. From the first three minutes, I thought I recognized the person playing the antagonist.

Is the bad guy Charlie from Charlie X?

I know that I figured the same thing several months ago, so it's definitely a possibility.

So is this thing in permanent licensing hell or will we ever get to see anything? Does anyone remember when it was supposed to be released on Boxing Day last year?

I read in an article about Walter Koenig, the first part is due Dec 22.

Next Saturday. It's close enough that I actually feel like I can talk about it and not have the date slip again. From an FX standpoint, the act I FX have been done for months (seems like years) and we're frantically polishing up the act III FX now. So not only will Act I be out next Saturday, but Act II and III should follow in January and February.

Yes and Act 3 is loaded with some cool stuff! The last thing we had to do on act 1 was the sound effects. I have a lot of work to do next week getting the site ready for its release. :)

I never believe any of these dates until the file is downloaded to my computer and I am watching it. I am looking forwards to OGAM, but I will not be checking avidly tomorrow. I will look on this board first.

Well, I just got the final file my own self. So it looks like it's really really happening! (Unless we do a New Voyages, of course.)

Is it sad that I'm actually more excited for OGaM then I am the new movie? I cannot wait for this, it just looks so cool.
