What Episodes have you not seen in a Very Long Time?

I've been watching seasons one and two for the first time in 20 years (they're being broadcast on Channel One in the UK). I am surprised by how different they are to latter episodes, I mean, you watch Voyager or DS9 and the production values are pretty constant, but TNG just feels so different at the beginning than at the end. I am also surprised by how many good episodes there are amongst the bad. A Matter Of Honour has been a real highlight for me thus far.

Yeah I know! The production values in the first couples seasons were atrocious! But season by season after that they keep getting slightly better until the final season.

When TNG ended its initial run in '94. I was pretty much burned out on the program by the end of the sixth season, so I didn't watch any from the seventh. I made sure to watch All Good Things when it first aired, but haven't seen it since. After '94, I didn't watch another TNG episode until late 2001 when TNN brought it back. It seemed like an eternity from 1994 to 2001 now that I think about it. I still need to catch up on those seventh season episodes.

A couple of years ago I got the whole set and was deadset on finding an episode of The Next Generation that I had never watched before. I would generally pick one that sounded unfamiliar before going to bed at night and put it on. Night after night passed, and every time a few minutes in I would recall the episode's plot... until I got to Season 4 Episode 18; "Identity Crisis".

I was amazed! I had finally found my holy grail! Oh the sheer enjoyment of going through a whole new (to me) adventure with these heroes from my childhood! That is, until I got to about 40 minutes in, and then it all came flooding back to me.

I still haven't found an episode that I don't remember, but to be fair I haven't really been looking as hard as I could.

The episode that comes to mind is Face of the Enemy. It was the one with Troi masquerading as a Romulan. Anywho, its been years since I've seen that one. I remember falling in love with the acting and voice of the Romulan commander.

I don't think I've seen the Dauphin in a while, all I remember about that episode is that Wil Wheaton had his first on screen kiss with a woman ten years or something like that his senior. But . . . . . Gambit part II, now that one I haven't seen since 1998 probably. Long long time.

I'm doing a watch-thru now, its my first since they came to dvd. So it has been awhile since Ive seen most of these episodes. Watched The Outrageous Okona today.

My next episode is The Dauphin. I remember not liking this episode very much, but maybe in hindsight it helped Wesley grow up a bit. Kind of like thinking about this episode when watching Evolution and the scene where Bev talks to Jean Luc about what she's missed in the last year.

I had a marathon rewatch of the entire series about six or seven years ago. And to be honest, that was probably the last time I watched about 90% of the show.

I know I've watched episodes like Reunion, The Defector and The Most Toys (along with a small handful of others) since then. But, again, to be honest, that was a long time ago.

I probably haven't watched a single episode of TNG in about seven or eight months.
