What else will be discovered then classified

Captain Janice Lester before she went crazy and got stripped of rank only to blame her downfall on Starfleet's culture of sexism.

Garth of Izar trying to destroy Antos IV

The Talosians (seriously, those guys are desperate enough and powerful enough to attract starships from hundreds of light years away... you don't honestly think Starfleet is going to just leave them to their own devices?)

First Contact with the Bajorans, who at the time are a major spacefaring civilization and haven't met the Cardassians yet

First Contact with the Cardassians, who have only JUST discovered warp drive but are still powering their cities with fossil fuels and child labor

The Omega molecule

Trek will never die. And if it does, then it had a better run than most properties out there.
Trek has in its heart, in its DNA an internationalist atomic-age bravado that was a product of the era it came out of. There's an optimism of "We can do anything if we're bold, moral, and have the right isotopes." From the decade that invented the computer chip (for ICBM's), the ARPANET (for networks to survive Nuclear war), and finished the first stage of the space race.

Even when the sentiment of the masses has turned against the idea of looking forward and outward, the Trek franchise can't really change itself from that. When Star Wars tried to change its focus from rebels fighting against a dystopian empire with the backdrop of some unknown quasi-religious conflict playing out its final stages, into a trade dispute and arguments over parliamentary procedure, it lost its way. Trek has to keep to that optimism that made it work to begin with.

The show and the movies get to skirt with the darkness now and then. But not too much. Time to go forward, I hope. I have no pulse on humanity, but I am starting to think we may be reentering that feeling of confidence in the future, even if its born out of a complete lack of confidence in the now. We need Star Trek, until something better comes along.

Everything is classified. If the Federation, or even the entire Alpha Quadrant knew then the Milky Way Galaxy, the Universe, the Multi-Verse, and all of life as we know it would cease to exist. We would cease to exist.

So, not just for the sake of canon but for the sake of existence, all information must be classified. Now and forever.

The Feds are onto me for even typing this post but don't let them intimidate you. The Truth Is Out There.
