Mandalorian appeals specifically to ANH fans. It takes the Western style idea that informed the catina scene, Han Solo as a gunslinger and the galaxy as a wild west trope haven. It uses a wish fulfillment cipher of a character, plus the cutesy appeal of droids, and aliens.
It is it's own riff on Star Wars tropes.
