What does "Closed" mean to you?

Its actually very much different. If you call into a store, and they put you on hold, it's because they're *gasp* helping other customers. I know it must burst a great many bubbles when people find outthat they aren't the only people patronizing a place of business. In most if not all stores, the customers there in the store get priority over phone calls. If you were there in the store and an employee answered the phone instead of helping you'd complain about that, too.

It is a verry different matter when a customer is calling us and puts us on hold. We may have other customers to help and other calls to answer. It's incredibly rude and selfish...you're asking someone to help you, but forcing them to do so on your terms, when you're the one who called them. I wouldn't even put up with that from my friends.

I had a job in retail once. Customers barging in a few minutes before closing time, intending to stay another half our really is near the top of the list of reasons I stopped doing that sort of work at the side.

Hygiene is another; I once, in a warm summer day, had a dirty old lady (45+), who's size was more horizontally then vertically aligned, with large hanging breasts (an non-supportive bra) and a very low-cut too-tight stretch tank-top paying me with money she took out of her bra. Money that was completely soaked and dripping with moisture excluded from I-don't-want-to-know-where. And all the while, she kept on smiling, winking suggestively and stroking her mustache. She also smelled of alcohol and horse urine. God, that was disgusting.

Still, I smiled that tight, neutral smile you're supposed to wear and only sat down, regained my balance and tried to get that horrible experience out of my memory after she left the store. Which, unfortunately, didn't work, seeing as I still remember it.

Wait till you have some pull their money out of their mouths ~puke~ Had that happen a few times and I just told them to put it on the counter. Hells if I was touching it.

Yeah, that's a whole bunch of bullshit. I would have hung up.
