What do you think the status of Trek will be in 2066 ?

Star Trek will become a part of the collective New Mythology of humanity alongside heroes like Superman and Batman and stuff like Star Wars.

Humanity is much more larger and diverse than America or Hollywood. There's billions of people who don't know about Trek, and that will likely continue. :)

Star Trek will be public domain so likely we will have multiple takes on Trek. That is if Climate Change hasn't turned the world into a dystopian hellhole which is already very likely.

Or Europe and Hollywood's other markets, which everyone knows about as well. Isn't Hollywood trying to get these franchises more visibility over there? Even when Chekov came aboard.

To the people saying Star Trek will be forgotten by 2066.

Would you reeeeallly not go see the 100th anniversary King Kong and Planet of the Apes remakes. ;)

No, it will be required learning for all of humanity as part of the New Order. This is why the Second Crusades happened, after all.

So now that two episodes of Picard have aired, to mostly positive reception, what does everyone think the status of Trek will be in 2066?

I think they're moving with the times and as long as they continue to do so, keep the evolution going with whatever people expect of science fiction TV shows between now and 2066, good reason to think Trek will still be alive and well.

Levis since 1873
coca cola since 1886
Star Trek since 1966

strong names will last for a very very long time,
it's synonym with quality even if stuff like "new coke" or "discovery" (gasp!) surface every now and then.
So, the status of trek will probably be much stronger than today.
