What do you plan to read in 2012?

The first book that came to mind is Christopher's DTI: Forgotten History. I'd also like to read Indistinguishable from Magic.

I've been working my way through the recently published first volume of Mark Twain's Autobiography and will continue reading it in 2012.

I receieved a Kindle for Christmas this year and was thrilled to find the large number of public domain works one can get for FREE. I'm already stock piling HG Wells and Jules Verne books to (re)read

Most of my 2012 reading will consist of catching up on the Vanguard series (I'm still on Reap the Whirlwind), and from the '12 schedule I plan to pick up VAN: Storming Heaven, DTI: Forgotten History, DRG's Typhon Pact novels, VOY: The Eternal Tide and David Mack's trilogy.

For non-Trek fiction, really the only thing on my list would be Ed Falco's The Family Corleone. (Godfather prequel)

I'm going to try to read all the new Trek novels this year, as well as the ones I still haven't read from last year (Romulan War: To Brave the Storm, Rise Like Lions, & The Struggle Within). I also still have Myriad Universes: Shattered Light on my shelf. I'm also going to try to catch up with New Frontier, SCE, and IDW's comics.

Non-Trek, I plan to read On the Oceans of Eternity by SM Stirling, the third/final novel in the Nantucket series. Then I'm going to continue with Stirling's The Change/Emberverse series.

I'm also gonna read the occasional tie-ins to various series.

I've read so much Trek in 2012, that I want to tone that down a little and read some more classics. Although there were a few Trek novels I felt I rushed through to quickly so I could finish as much books in 2011, so I'll be reading a few.

I have a few Dickens novels lying around for a while I really want to get into, the collected works of Asimov has been lying around as well. I've been thinking about re-reading the Hobbit before the movie hits theaters. Part of my girlfriend's study requires her to read a lot of classic English and American lit, so we have some of that around.

As for Trek, most of the new releases this year are must-haves for me, and I was planning on getting the entire Mirror Universe novels. Other then that, we'll see what happens.

Hoping to read a majority of the Trek books that are new this year, I read most of last years titles. Other than that & keeping up with the comics I'm no hooked on I may start reading some of the John Sanford series.

Hrm... I really want to get caught up on all the 24th century TNG novels. Finish the Vanguard stuff. And that Department of Temporal Investigations novel.

In non-Treklit, my only goal is to read all the "Game of Thrones" series of books. That'll be more than enough entertainment.

I've got Miéville's Embassytown and A Dance with Dragons on the immediate todo, and want to finally start on the Culture series.

Trek-wise I'll continue my slow plodding along in the desparate hope of some day catching up and being able to join in the new releases banter. Thinking of taking a break from that and reading through Vanguard though, since it's nice and self-contained.

Also considering taking a look at KRAD's original stuff.

For example, the first story takes place before the first novel, so I'd start with that.

^ Well, you can read the saga any way you want, but I'd actually suggest you read it in publication order rather than in strict chronological order.

Ohnonononono! Don't skip the DS9 relaunch books! I'm rereading them (just got the Twist of Faith and These Haunted Seas anthologies) and I had forgotten how truly awesome they are. Like, rereading Avatar has thrown into relief just how much To Brave The Storm pales in comparison. (Well, caveat, I understand that Warpath, The Soul Key, and Fearful Symmetry are not as well received. But I've loved everything else that I read.)

Also, I have a hunch that several of the new books coming out this year will reference stuff from DS9-R.

Course, the authors are all really good about summarizing when needed, so you would survive if you had to go without, but...
