You certainly seem to have been surrounded and influenced by a negative experience of Church which is, sadly, many peoples experience. It's not the whole story though. For instance, I'm the national chaplain to a group called Faith & Light which is a parish based community which supports people with learning disabilities and their families. It is a truly joyous group, filled with laughter, enthusiasm and camaraderie, all the more amazing when we consider the daily challenges these people face. Bring a part of this group allows me to cope with all the other negative stuff that can be a part of my work: the ignorance, the pettiness and the day to day problems that land at my door. This past week I've had to deal with 2 suicides as well as the passing of 2 elderly people and all that this stirs up in their families and the community. Don't get me wrong; there are so many wonderfully, truly Christian people out there (I use the term 'Christian' loosely to describe peolpe I know, some of whom aren't in the slightest bit religious, but who embody all the Christian virtues), whose hearts are filled with love and a desire to live life well at peace with all people. It's just the jerks who get all the press!

I work for a company that does the logistics for a big german corporation (in more detail their Powertools division).. i do customer service for North and South America for our clients there (not end user crap but the industrial customers which is a bit more professional).

I'm looking forward to your childrens books as I've never read an Australian one so far.
Atm I'm reading James and the Gigant Peach. You can learn a lot about a people's values, philosophy, ideals and way of life by reading childrens books. You basically get their whole culture in a nutshell.
FPAlpha, isn't that a rather stressful job? Not only do you have to deal with angry or frustrated people all the time, you also have to live with the 6-9 hours time difference between you and your customers, so that you'll have a lot of night shifts, I imagine.

I'm a director for a MES/ software start up. We're focusing on the solar/bio-tech sector, as most of our group has back ground in that area. At this point I'm doing everything from software design to tracking down hardware orders at our clients.

Seriously. My life quite literally depends on the functionality of medical products. Without them I'd last a few weeks at the longest. It may seem trivial when you're doing your inspecting and packing, but I every day I rely on my glucometer to give accurate readings, my test strips to not be duds, and my insulin pens to inject the correct dosage. Any of these things being off by even a small percentage could lead to serious complications or death. So, yeah, your work is appreciated!

I once got into an argument with the head nun at my boarding school because I claimed that if Jesus was human in every respect except for sin, he'd necessarily have had a good sense of humour. Plus: if a god, by definition, has all virtues to perfection, and humour is indubitably a positive character trait, then god must love a bit of fun now and then.
That earned me 2 weeks of detention.

Until recently, I was a software engineer for a medium-sized defense contractor you probably haven't heard of.
Now, I'm still in the same job, but my title has changed to Applied Mathematician and we're part of a much bigger defense contractor you definitely *have* heard of.
Also, I'm hoping to get my Commercial pilot's license within a year. I'm not sure how much I'm going to do with that, but it would be nice to be able to make a bit of money on it now and then.

He has a rather impressive project list which includes Black Scorpio (postproduction), Hold (sound recordist) and Dog Town and Z-Boys (digital sound transfer).
He's really good but he limps and looks a bit weird (he got injured in an accident as a kid afaik) and that puts many potential employers off
