What do you consider to be the Prime Timeline?

57 years ago I was a child watching TOS on a black and white TV. Never even heard of the word "timeline".:p

The Trek world was far better before timelines and Prime were ever conceived.

And I was still five years away from being born!

I used the operative "if". I'm posing a possible scenario because Mount is a very popular piece of the franchise and we know how Trek fans can't let characters go.

They have plenty of time. There's, like, 6 or 7 years to go before Pike is due to have the accident.

And no, I wouldn't be "good" if they avoided it (which I honestly don't think they'll do). I'd be pissed. But I'd still have to accept it.

And we can easily have Anson Mount come back as Pike on Talos many years later. Weird that the Talosians couldn't read the minds of medical doctors and find a way to fix Vina and Pike...

They could have had Spock mind meld with Bones. Wouldn't have been the worse thing he would have done to him . :bolian:

If there was a way to fix PIke the Federation would have done it and Spock's little mutiny wouldn't be needed.

They'll do something with Pike once he reaches Talos IV. That doesn't even feel like a spoiler or speculation, because I can see it from a mile away. SNW will want to conclude the story of Pike on their own terms, which makes sense for them. Plus, I think this isn't the type of the series where they'll want to end it on such a downer. It doesn't seem like that type of show.

One of the shortcomings of trying to turn a 60's action-adventure show into a continuing franchise. Back then, they were simply writing what they wrote because it was interesting in that story, that week, with no real forethought of what the future holds.

I think I enjoyed it more that way.

I was under the impression it had just happened. At this point, he was under Starfleet care. There are probably doctors out there who might have been willing to do things that might not be approved by Starfleet Medicine....and plot.

I looked at the dialogue. They didn't really go in depth about his condition and how long it'd last, other than McCoy deriding about treating the brain (was he even an neurologist?). Also, I'm wondering if the Talosians were having an influence on them. Vina had a thing for him, and they just wanted Pike back to her. It'd be crazy if Pike could have recovered and the Klingon monks didn't see that. Sorry, too much head canoning.

I could see them doing a flashforward to some post-Menagerie point in time where the Enterprise or maybe just Kirk and Spock meet a cured Pike and Vina.

How long could they live under Talosian care? Could they live well into the 24th....perhaps by the TNG era?

Bones is whatever specialty the plot calls for. He was an expert in psychology for like one episode.
I think the implication is Pike's condition is incurable. Just like Bone's is in "For The World Is Hollow And I Have Touched The Sky". Heh, maybe the Fabrini have a miracle cure for Pike too?

Yeah, they seemed to imply that. But as it seem to have JUST happened, I find it a bit odd as none of them would try to keep hope, doing research. Nobody said anything about new research somewhere or something like that . It happened with seemingly dire medical situations, both in Trek and in RL. Ah well.

Here's how I separate it, so everyone can criticize!

Timeline A: TOS, TAS, TMP.
Timeline B: TWOK through TUC, TNG, DS9, VOY, Generations, First Contact.
Timeline C: First Contact, ENT, Insurrection, Nemesis, LD, PIC.
Timeline D: DIS, SNW

Though like in real life, they likely won't explore too deep for a cure for something that affects very few people.
