My favorite effect was the new warp effect... the way that the ships simply vanish, in the blink of an eye, with only a loud sonic boom-like sound REALLY conveyed the fact that this is genuine FTL.
They did not look like effects....highest praise to give!
Totally loved the look of this one!
All objects are being accelerated constantly toward the dominant gravitational source. Only the electromagnetic repulsion of the particles in the floor with the particles in your body keeps you from falling, which interestingly enough goes to show how lame gravity is, that the electrons in some wood can defeat the gravitational attraction of a whole planet. But the attraction is still there. It's called inertia. The only bit I thought was slightly ropey was the beaming away as Vulcan disintegrated - Amanda falling was a little bit Roadrunner, imho, with a bit of a comic pause before she fell.
clint g said:it completely set the pace for the film and that shot with the female officer getting sucked out of the sip and colliding with the phaser canon was just amazing stuff.
The BOOM! sound effect is 110% awesome in an IMAX theater. The Enterprise just plain gets up and GOES.Speaking of which, I freakin LOVE the new Warp Drive. It's so much more powerful and badass than any other warp effect to date (both the launch and the light effect around the ship), that I can't believe it's taken this long for Trek to try it.
Yeah, new warp effect is probably my favorite.
There were at times were I was going, that's CGI? especialy the NU-ENTERPRISE! it really did look like a filming model.
