It was nice that she just smiled and stunned him using that old blaster she had back in her Rebel leader days.

Sadly, Rian's shitty writing has now placed many fans in the unenviable position of of having to do both.

Or maybe it wasn't "shitty" writing, it was just writing that you didn't like?

Spoiler Alert: I'm not about to start posting about how much I liked it. So here's an idea, why don't you try taking some of that advice you like to dispense; Ignore me.

I think it must be the face that your posts clearly slow down time, similar to a Black hole.

But yeh Like Leia I will float away.....

Well Lucas did try to turn ATOC into one of those poorly written Mills & Boon romance stories ;)

I actually edited/removed that from my post just before you posted that because I knew it was out of line.

    I do apologise for that.

It's understandable. I've done it myself, like I have room to talk, I've had to do it regarding Steven Moffat on Doctor Who. But at some point, I had to admit to myself, his writing sucked. Now, I'm less defensive and more objective about it.

I didnt particularly dislike the idea, but the execution wasnt good for me. I t hought it looked horrible and much more like she flew them Force Pulled herself.

Plus I have never seen Leia as being particular adept at the Force so this jarred with me (I'm going basically off the films, not the EU in general, so maybe in the EU she was an awesome Jedi).

After the immaculate conception of Anakin Skywalker by The Force, any other use of The Force is a go. They are all gods, now. Try not to be surprised.

The Leia scene was great set up for the next movie where Rey goes to lightspeed without a suit / ship.

    *jk, I liked this scene

It "makes sense" but it just didn't play out or look very good as depicted. Yes Leia is force sensitive so it should be "possible" for her to do this but we've never been directly told she has this level of force power to propel herself in a vacuum or to withstand prolonged exposure to the vacuum and coldness of space. And it's possible to survive in a vacuum for a short time, you'll suffocate before you'd freeze to death (only way to lose heat in a vacuum is by radiation which is a very, very slow process. White Dwarf stars are the "oldest" form of star suspected to exist as not enough time has passed ever for a White Dwarf to fully cool into a Black Dwarf and the time to get to having our first Black Dwarf is likely billions of billions of years away) and even then you'd suffer some medical effects from mild damage due to the exposure, as has happened to real people exposed to partial vacuums in experiments on Earth, but we see Leia needing medical attention when she returned, so this is covered.

It's just that it looked very silly. Her extending her arm and "flying" looked more like Superman than it did a woman using telekinetic powers in the openness of space, and, again, it was just unexpected given that we don't know Leia to have this level of Force ability as before this point we've only seen her have a sense of awareness and connection to loved ones through the Force but not any "physical" ability. Something should have been placed in TFA to establish she'd achieved some level of telekinetic Force power, something as simple as her summoning an object from across the room or something. "Oh, she's got some degree of Force power now, cool! It's been 30 years or so since the last movie so, makes sense." But, no, the first time we see her use this kind of Force power is to save her life and to pull herself across space like Superman. It just looked silly.

But, of course, it'd seem Disney's not having any plan or "control" over the arc or connection between these movies as Johnson was able to just chuck out things he didn't like that Abrahams had established and then do his own thing hence a lot of the problems and holes in this movie. So, maybe if they'd shown Leia with any kind of telekinetic Force power in TFA Johnson would've tosse that aside and not had Leia pull this dumb move here.

Remember, Superman flying is a closed fist. A Force user pulling something towards them is a open palm.

You're forgetting about the instantaneous decompression between atmospheric pressure and vacuum. THAT is going to kill you before suffocation does.

Maybe, But, before all of it, I'd think the shrapnel and debris from the explosion as well as the concussive force and pressure of the explosion as well as the heat/fire from it would get you above anything else.

So... what would a person pulling herself with telekinesis toward a spaceship look like if not like Leia did here?
